Ice Resistance
November 2, 2026 at 06:40 AM
Distinguish documented environmental body temperature and recorded resistance gear from older combat-freeze thresholds and farming reports.
Ice Resistance is an elemental stat in Crimson Desert recorded on equipment such as Frostward I, which the gear guide lists as Ice Resistance Lv. 1 for armor. The climate guide recommends frost-resistant gear or food for cold body-temperature conditions. Environmental protection does not by itself establish immunity to a combat Freeze status. Earlier notes also described direct ice-damage reduction and grouped the stat alongside Fire Resistance and Lightning Resistance.

Earlier notes combined direct ice-attack damage and combat Freeze with the temperature system's environmental cold effects. They also assigned ice critical hits an exact 40% elemental modifier. The climate guide confirms body-temperature restrictions, not that combat formula or a universal relationship between the environment gauge and enemy-applied Freeze.
Earlier northern-exploration notes around Kweiden assigned Stamina a drain rate of 50% faster and eventually Health loss. Those exact rates and blizzard escalation remain unverified. The climate guide describes faster stamina depletion in extreme heat or cold and recommends resistance gear or food; it does not supply a universal 50% drain or Health-loss formula.
The following table preserves earlier level 5, 10 and 15 breakpoint reports. The climate and gear guides reviewed here do not independently establish these exact temperature-bar or combat-Freeze immunity thresholds; do not read the table as a newly verified protection model:
Resistance Level | Effect | Details |
|---|---|---|
1-4 | Damage reduction | Each rank reduces ice damage taken |
5 | First temperature bar immunity | The first blue bar on the temperature gauge stays green, meaning the first stage of freezing has no negative effects |
10 | Second bar immunity + freeze resistance | The second cold bar is also neutralized. Additionally, the Freeze status effect becomes much harder to build up on your character |
15 | Third bar immunity + full Freeze immunity | All three cold bars are neutralized. You become completely immune to the Freeze status effect |
Earlier combat-status notes described Freeze as a stun with ice damage and proposed slower buildup at level 10, making enemies less likely to freeze the player during combos, followed by full immunity at level 15 against ice-element bosses. Those exact combat thresholds remain unverified; the environmental body-temperature gauge alone is not proof of an enemy-applied status threshold.

Fur and heavy armor | Earlier examples named fur-lined armor and heavy plate. The climate guide recommends gear with the relevant resistance, rather than independently confirming that every fur or heavy item has the same insulation. |
Certain Abyss Cores provide elemental resistance bonuses when socketed into equipment. | |
Warming food | Earlier food examples were Spiced Cider and Hot Soup from cooking. The climate guide supports resistance food generally; check the selected food's actual bonus rather than treating these names as a newly verified recipe or combat-immunity threshold. |
Campfires | The climate guide describes nearby fire as a source of heat. The older claim that any campfire instantly resets the whole temperature gauge is not independently established by that heating example. |
Ice Resistance is most relevant in two scenarios:
Northern exploration: Kweiden and other frozen regions were described in earlier notes using a 50% Stamina drain increase. The guide confirms faster depletion from extreme conditions, without verifying that percentage or every fur-armor counter.
Ice-element enemies: Enemies with ice attacks were described as causing combat Freeze. The exact effect of each resistance level on that status or incoming damage remains unverified here; do not infer it only from environmental temperature management.
In temperate or hot regions, Ice Resistance has minimal value. Swap to Fire Resistance gear when heading into desert areas.
The comparison below retains earlier environmental-penalty, equipment and food reports. Its exact percentages, Health loss, movement-speed and universal item effects have not been independently established by the climate guide:
Condition | Primary Penalty | ||
|---|---|---|---|
Freezing | Fur armor, heavy plate | Spiced Cider, Hot Soup | |
Overheating | Max Stamina reduced; Movement Speed slowed | Linen clothing | Cooling Water, Cactus Fruit |
Earlier advice named Spiced Cider or Hot Soup for Kweiden. Follow the selected food's actual resistance bonus; the climate guide supports managing cold conditions with resistance food, without certifying those exact recipes.
Earlier advice traded some Defense for fur insulation to preserve the ability to dodge and block. The resistance values and Defense tradeoff depend on the selected item, not a verified universal property of fur armor.
Fire can affect body temperature according to the climate guide. The older any-campfire instant-reset claim remains unverified; watch the actual gauge rather than assume an immediate full reset.
Earlier advice recommended resistance against freeze-capable bosses. The exact combat-Freeze thresholds and follow-up damage are not established by the environmental climate description.
Earlier farming notes recommended Ice Resistance for an Abyss Artifact route involving the Ice Walker loop in northern Hernand, describing one or two repeatedly defeated bosses and a fast travel reset. The exact spawn/reset behavior, route popularity and minimum resistance needed for that loop remain unverified; the climate guide only supports the broader effect of extreme temperature on stamina.
Earlier level-5 farming advice claimed the first cold bar stays green and removes a 50% Stamina drain penalty. It described the Hernand Riverside descent, a two-grapple core kill and immediate map opening without recovery waits. These exact thresholds, movement windows and kill steps are retained as earlier route reports, not independently verified consequences of the climate guide.
Earlier fallback-food advice named Spiced Cider and Hot Soup for Waywood Woods, Pailune and Above the H. Their precise sufficiency for those routes and a level-5 gear threshold remain unverified; check the actual food and environment gauge.
Earlier advice combined fur armor and heavy plate with resistance cores. The climate guide supports resistance gear generally, not a universal insulation value or a specific consumable-saving rate for those categories.
Earlier advice placed a campfire between Hernand Riverside runs and compared it with level-5 gear. Nearby heat is documented, while the instant reset, route timing and exact level comparison remain unverified.
Earlier combat reports described ice projectiles and slam-induced Freeze buildup, with resistance level 10 reducing it and level 15 removing it entirely. They recommended stacking Abyss Cores and fur armor, with level 5 as an efficient farming target. Those exact combat thresholds and investment recommendations remain unverified; the recorded Frostward I bonus and environmental climate advice do not independently establish them.
