Greyhound
April 25, 2026 at 02:45 AM
Added Confirmed Spawn Location (Hernand cabin, shared with Husky and Spotted Dog, fast travel reroll) and Taming Foods (Bird Meat 35 trust, Small Bone supplement, Companionship III +3)

The Greyhound is a sleek, athletic dog breed built for speed. With its long legs, narrow frame, and aerodynamic build, the Greyhound is the fastest dog breed in Crimson Desert. Despite its athletic nature, the Greyhound is surprisingly gentle and calm when not in motion, often content to rest near its owner after a sprint across the fields.

Found in multiple regions across Pywel. Available in a wide variety of color variants, making it one of the most diverse breeds.
To tame the Greyhound, approach it in the wild and interact with it to begin building Trust. Dogs can be petted directly by pressing the interaction button. Each petting action grants +5 Trust, and you can pet up to five times per in-game day for a maximum of +25 Trust from petting alone.
You can also feed the Greyhound up to three times per in-game day. Drop food from your inventory near the dog to feed it. Greyhounds prefer Milk as their favorite food, granting +35 trust per feeding. Despite their speed, they are not difficult to approach in settlements.
Once the Greyhound reaches 100 Trust, hold the interaction button to register it as your companion. Dogs can often be tamed within one to two in-game days with consistent petting and feeding with their favorite food.
The Greyhound's favorite food is Milk, which grants the maximum +35 Trust per feeding. Other accepted foods grant +10 Trust per feeding.
Dogs accept a wide variety of meat, fish, and prepared foods. Top food items include Small Bone and Large Bone (+25 pts each), followed by various cooked and raw meats (+10 to +20 pts). Daily feeding is limited to three times per in-game day, with the day resetting at midnight in-game time.
Like all pets in Crimson Desert, the Greyhound automatically runs around the battlefield after combat and loots items from enemy corpses. Pets do not fight, attack enemies, or take damage. They function exclusively as automatic loot collectors.
Pets disappear when you mount your horse and reappear when you dismount. Only one pet can be active at a time, with remaining registered pets stored in your inventory's Pets tab.
The Greyhound can wear Pet Equipment, including one headpiece and one body outfit at a time. Pet armor is purely cosmetic and does not provide combat stats. Pet cosmetics can be purchased from Milou's Shop in Pororin Village or the Demeniss Pet Tailor in the southeast corner of Demeniss.
The Greyhound has 11 different appearance variants with different coat colors and patterns. All variants share the same favorite food, taming requirements, and abilities. The variant you encounter depends on the specific spawn location and sometimes the time of day.
Dogs are generally faster to tame than cats. With their favorite food, many dogs can reach 100 Trust within a single in-game day.
Petting resets daily at midnight in-game time. Plan your visits accordingly to maximize daily Trust gains.
Dogs looting ability works automatically after combat. There is no need to command or direct your pet to pick up items.
You can register up to 30 pets total. Completing the full roster unlocks the Natural Collector trophy.
The Greyhound has a reliable spawn at a small cabin in Hernand. The cabin sits along the mainstreet route and is easy to reach from any nearby fast travel marker, which makes it a practical early-game farming spot for dog pets.
The same cabin also spawns the Husky and the Spotted Dog (the dalmatian-pattern variant). All three breeds draw from the same spawn pool, so which dog is present on any given visit is randomized.
If the dog currently at the cabin is not the one you want, you can roll new dog spawns by repeatedly fast traveling away and returning. Use the Fast Travel pad near the cabin to jump to any other waypoint and then travel straight back; the area reloads with a fresh selection from the pool each time. A few cycles of this reroll trick is usually enough to land the specific breed and coat variant you are after, without needing to wait for an in-game day to pass.
Like other dogs in Crimson Desert, the Greyhound responds fastest to Bird Meat, which is the preferred food for the canine pool. A single feed of Bird Meat grants 35 trust, enough to close most of the gap to the 100 trust cap in one in-game day when combined with a few pets.
As a supplement, keep a stack of Small Bone in your inventory. Small Bone is accepted by every dog breed and is useful for filling the remaining trust bar after the day's feeding limit has been reached, since petting interactions still count toward the daily cap. See the Pet Taming Guide for the full list of accepted dog foods and their trust values.
For the fastest possible tame, equip the Companionship III abyss core in one of your Abyss Core slots before starting a taming session. The core adds +3 trust to every pet interaction, stacking on top of both the feed value and the petting value. See the Companion Affection Guide and the Companions overview for more on raising Companion Trust efficiently.
