Applied Title Case to body headings
The Frostcursed Plate Cloak is a Plate Armor shoulder piece in Crimson Desert. It belongs to the Frost Cursed Plate armor set and provides the highest single-piece Ice Resistance bonus in the set at Level 5, alongside Level 3 Fire Resistance. Found inside a hidden treasure chest beneath the Sanctum of Expiation in northwestern Demeniss, the Cloak requires the Blinding Flash skill to access.
The Frostcursed Plate Cloak is classified as a Unique item, meaning it cannot be refined at a Blacksmith and does not support Abyss Core slots. Its stats are fixed at the values shown when you pick it up. Despite this limitation, the dual resistance bonuses make it one of the most useful cloaks for cold-environment exploration.
The item's description reads: "A plate cloak once worn by Skull Knight, the Frostwarden. The sharp seams of the layered pauldrons deflect any blade that strikes them, while the black cloak that's been frozen stiff offers protection as formidable as the armor itself."

The following table lists the Frostcursed Plate Cloak's fixed stats. Since this is a Unique item, these values cannot be changed through Refinement.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
Type | Plate Cloak (Shoulder) |
ATK | 0 |
DEF | 3 |
ATK SPD | 0 |
MV SPD | 0 |
CRIT | 0 |
LGT RES | 0 |
ICE RES | 0 |
FIRE RES | Lv 3 |
Rarity | Unique (non-refinable) |
Abyss Core Slots | None |
Sell Price | 4.42 Silver Coins |
At 3 DEF and no offensive stats, the Cloak has the lowest raw defense of any piece in the Frostcursed Plate set. Its strength lies entirely in its resistance bonuses.
Effect | Description |
|---|---|
Ice Resistance Lv 5 | Provides Level 5 Ice Resistance, significantly reducing frost damage from cold environments and ice-element enemy attacks |
Fire Resistance Lv 3 | Provides Level 3 Fire Resistance, reducing damage from fire-element sources |
The Ice Resistance Level 5 is the highest ice resistance value on any single piece in the Frostcursed Plate set, surpassing even the body armor's Level 7 on a per-slot basis when you consider that the Cloak occupies the shoulder slot rather than the chest. Combined with the Frostcursed Plate Armor (Ice Resistance Lv 7) and the Frostcursed Plate Gloves (Ice Resistance Lv 1), wearing all three provides enough cold protection to survive the harshest blizzards in Demeniss.
The Fire Resistance Level 3 is a secondary benefit that most players overlook. It reduces incoming fire damage from enemies such as flame-wielding cultists and fire traps found in certain Sanctum dungeons. While not the Cloak's main selling point, it adds versatility that pure ice-resistance gear lacks.
The Frostcursed Plate Cloak is found beneath the Sanctum of Expiation in northwestern Demeniss. The Sanctum is located directly east across the river from where the map reads "Drakesfall Gorge" in northern Hernand.
To find the correct doorway, look for a crack on the floor near the entrance. The door you need is on the south side of the sanctum courtyard, and the cracked flooring is a visual indicator that you are in the right spot. The enemies in the Sanctum of Expiation do not need to be killed to reach the Cloak, so players can avoid combat entirely if they are careful.
Travel to the Sanctum of Expiation in northwestern Demeniss. Clear out any enemies in the sanctum courtyard if they are still active.
On the south side of the sanctum, look for a doorway blocked by thorned vines (red-spiked roots). Use Blinding Flash (L1+R1+L1 on PlayStation, LB+RB+LB on Xbox) to burn the vines away.
Enter the hidden tunnel that opens up behind the destroyed vines. Crouch to fit through the narrow passage.
Take two right turns inside the tunnel. Watch for a spike trap on the ground between the turns; dodge roll past it to avoid damage.
At the end of the passage, open the treasure chest to obtain the Frostcursed Plate Cloak. A Palmar Pill is also inside the chest.
Skill | Input | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
L1+R1+L1 (PS) / LB+RB+LB (Xbox) | Burns away thorned vines blocking the tunnel entrance |
The Frostcursed Plate Cloak is a Unique item and cannot be refined. Its stats are locked at the values listed above. This sets it apart from the Frostcursed Plate Helm, Frostcursed Plate Gloves, and Frostcursed Plate Boots, which all start at Refinement Level 3 and can be upgraded at a Blacksmith.
The Cloak also does not support Abyss Core slots, so there is no way to add additional effects to it. What you pick up from the chest is exactly what you get.
The Cloak's Ice Resistance Lv 5 is enough on its own to noticeably reduce frost damage in cold zones. If you only have time to grab one Frostcursed piece before heading north, the Cloak and the body armor offer the most immediate cold protection.
Fire Resistance Lv 3 helps in the Sanctum of Flame and against fire-element bosses. Keep the Cloak in your inventory even if you switch to another shoulder piece for general combat.
Since the Cloak cannot be refined, do not spend resources trying to improve it. Focus refinement materials on the Frostcursed Plate Helm, Gloves, or Boots instead.
Pair the Cloak with the rest of the Frost Cursed Plate set for maximum ice resistance coverage. The combined set allows comfortable exploration of the Eye of Ice, the Spire of Frost, and other frozen areas.

The cloak chest is hidden along the outer wall of the Sanctum of Exploration. None of the witches inside the sanctum need to be cleared, and the witches storyline does not need to be in progress. The chest is a side pickup that can be grabbed at any time, with one important caveat: looting it seals the corridor and forces a fast travel out of the sanctum.
Because the chest forces a fast travel out, this is the cleanest first pickup in the speedrun route. The forced jump drops you back at the Gate of Truth, which is also the natural staging point for the next four pieces. Always grab this fast travel point before going in so the post-chest jump lands somewhere useful.
Start at the Gate of Truth fast travel point. Head north.
Jump down off the cliff past the lone tree, then loop back to the road and ride up toward the sanctum.
Follow the road up the mountain. Going off the path is fine; the road and the off-road slopes both lead to the same approach.
Enemies spawn around the sanctum on first arrival. Clearing them is optional but makes the chest run easier. For floating mages, Blinding Flash plus hold L1 on the square weak point is a near-instant kill.
After the area cutscene, walk to the kiln and turn around.
Run past the vine-covered gateway (do not burn it; that path leads into the sanctum interior, which is not needed for the cloak).
Loop around the outer edge of the sanctum until you reach a doorway with two lanterns and a cracked stone floor.
On the side wall of that doorway is another door covered in red glowing vines. This is the cloak entry.
Burn the vines with Blinding Flash (L1 plus R1, hold L1 to channel), a fire imbue, or an explosive arrow. After the vines burn off, crouch through the opening, follow the corridor, turn right, and loop around to the chest at the end. The chest is hidden but unmissable once you know where to turn.
Frostcursed Plate Cloak with level 5 ice resistance.
This piece cannot be refined, which is a small drawback for endgame builds.
After looting the chest, you are sealed inside the corridor. Open the map and fast travel back to the Gate of Truth (or whichever travel point you prefer) to continue the route to the Chattering Rocks for the helm.
