Familiar Curses is the 35th main quest in Crimson Desert. A rumor has reached the Greymane Camp that a Greymane caused a rampage at St. Halssius's House of Healing, a restricted healing institution in Hernand. Kliff must infiltrate the facility to find out what happened. Inside, he discovers Yann, a Greymane who has been subjected to a painful Visione helm procedure that left him in a violent, frenzied state.
This quest features multiple entry methods (disguise, visitor's pass, or stealth) and reveals important lore about the Visione technology and its misuse by institutional figures in Hernand.

Guards (if detected or if stealth route fails) |
The House of Healing is a restricted facility, and Kliff cannot simply walk through the front door. There are three ways to gain entry:
Method | How to Do It | Cost |
|---|---|---|
Buy the Priest Outfit | Speak with the man at the corner of the buildings across the bridge from the House of Healing. Purchase the full Halssius Priest costume set (Attire, Cloak, Footwear, Hat) and equip all four pieces. | 10 Silver |
Buy a Visitor's Pass | Speak with a stranger near the bridge who directs you to the Church of Hernand. Travel there and purchase a St. Halssius Visitor's Pass. | Varies |
Climb the rooftops and crouch through the grass past the guards. Stay undetected to reach the interior without a disguise or pass. | Free | |
Pickpocket Guards | Pickpocket the guards patrolling the outer walls of the House of Healing to collect individual pieces of the Halssius Priest outfit (Attire, Cloak, Footwear, Hat). Results are not guaranteed on each attempt, so multiple tries may be needed to collect all four pieces. Equip the full set to enter through the main entrance. | Free (not guaranteed) |
Recommended: The priest outfit method is the simplest and most straightforward. The outfit also doubles as a quest reward that you keep permanently, making it a good investment. Equip all four pieces of the costume before approaching the entrance.
Once inside, head to the main building's second floor. Go to the south wing above the inner courtyard. In the hallway, you will find a man attacking patients. This is Yann, who has been driven to a violent frenzy by a Visione helm experiment. The facility has been using iron helmets to force visions into patients' minds, effectively torturing them under the guise of healing.
A confrontation with the House of Healing Overseer follows the discovery of Yann's condition. The Overseer attempts to justify the experiments as necessary treatment, but Yann is having none of it. In a burst of rage, Yann overpowers the Overseer and forces the Visione helm onto him, giving the Overseer a taste of his own medicine.
Before chasing after Yann, take a moment to explore the area. An Abyss Artifact can be found in one of the side rooms or corners of the facility during the investigation phase. These are valuable progression items, so do not leave without it.
Chase Yann as he flees across the rooftops of the facility. He is fast and frantic, but the path is linear. He eventually drops down into a cottage on the far side of the compound. Follow him through a gap in the compound's inner wall. When he emerges on the other side, a Pywell Wagon is waiting.
Board the Pywell Wagon with Yann. The wagon ride takes you away from the House of Healing to the Nas River Fishing Dock, where the quest concludes. During the ride, Yann begins to calm down and shares fragments of what happened to him. The full story of his captivity and the Visione experiments unfolds in the following quests.
Reward | Details |
|---|---|
Torso armor piece; part of the priest disguise set | |
St. Halssius Priest's Cloak | Back piece; part of the priest disguise set |
Foot armor piece; part of the priest disguise set | |
St. Halssius Priest's Hat | Head piece; part of the priest disguise set |
St. Halssius's House of Healing is officially a medical institution, but the quest reveals a darker truth. The facility has been illegally imprisoning patients and using iron Visione helmets to damage their minds. The technology that Kliff uses voluntarily to read memory fragments is being weaponized here as a tool of torture and control. Yann's violent state is a direct result of prolonged forced exposure to these devices.
This revelation plays a larger role in the story going forward. The Visione technology, its origins, and its potential for both good and harm become a recurring theme in later chapters.
The priest outfit is the most practical entry method. You keep the outfit as a reward regardless of how you enter, so buying it early just makes the infiltration smoother.
If you choose the stealth route, getting spotted by guards forces you into combat with them. Defeating them still lets you proceed, but the disguise routes are quieter and less risky.
Do not forget the Abyss Artifact inside the facility. Check corners and side rooms during the investigation phase before chasing Yann.
Yann becomes an important Greymane companion going forward. His violent state during this quest is temporary; he recovers and plays a significant role in the faction's story.
The rooftop chase after Yann is scripted and linear. You cannot lose him, so do not stress about keeping up. Just follow the path.
If you have 10 Silver to spare, the priest disguise is worth the investment since it is permanent equipment.
