Eavesdrop on Beighen Villagers Conversation
The Bared Fang main quest in Chapter 7 introduces the eavesdropping mechanic for the first time. You need to listen in on a conversation between two villagers in Beighen. The in-game tutorial is somewhat misleading about how eavesdropping works, which leads many players to get stuck on this objective.

Where to Eavesdrop
Look for the red-painted barn in the village. Two men are having a conversation inside it. Your target is the outer wall of this barn, specifically the side without a window.
How to Eavesdrop (Step by Step)
Walk to the side of the red barn that has no window (not the back with the open window)
Press L3 (left stick click) to lean against the wall
Wait for the "Learning in progress" indicator to fill up
Once in position, the L1 prompt appears automatically in the bottom-right corner of the screen
Hold L1 (LB on Xbox) to eavesdrop on the conversation
Common Mistake
Do not go to the back of the barn and try to look through the window using L1/LB. Even though the tutorial mentions holding L1, looking through the window does not count toward the objective. You must lean against the wall on the windowless side first. The lean action (L3) is the step that most players miss because the tutorial does not emphasize it clearly enough.
Tips
If the L1 prompt does not appear, reposition yourself along the wall and try leaning again. You may need to be closer to the center of the wall.
Eavesdropping is used again in later quests, so it is worth learning the lean-then-listen sequence here.
