Earrings focus on defensive stats and sustainability. The Black Lion Earring provides Defense alongside secondary bonuses that improve survivability in prolonged fights.
The Health regeneration effect on this accessory helps sustain your character between fights or during longer encounters. This is particularly valuable for players who prefer a tankier build or engage in PvE content where healing resources may be limited.
Refinement is available up to +10, which improves both the base stats and any bonus effects. Consider investing refinement materials if you plan to keep this accessory equipped for an extended period.
The Black Lion Earring is gated behind one of the longest prerequisite chains in the game. It begins in the Hernand region, passes through two bounty targets, and finally funnels into the Legendary Hunter side quest line that leads to the Black Lion hunt itself. Each step unlocks the next, so you cannot skip ahead by approaching the hunt location directly.
Travel to Velkom Outpost in the Hernand region. The outpost looks neutral or even friendly at first glance, but the garrison is actually hostile. Clear out the defenders and finish the liberation objective to officially mark the outpost as freed. This flag is required before the next quest will trigger.
Return to the main settlement in Hernand and sleep in a bed at any safe location. When you wake up, walk around the village and look on boards, walls, or in hand for a new bounty flyer for a target named Haldin. The flyer reveals his hideout on the world map, which is the cue to leave and hunt him down.
Travel to the marked location and defeat Haldin. He can be taken down in a straight fight if your gear is tuned for the current chapter. Completing the Haldin bounty unlocks the next quest in the chain, which targets another bounty-grade opponent.
The follow-up quest tasks you with defeating Gwen. Finish the Gwen encounter, which can be more demanding than the Haldin fight depending on your build. Completing Gwen is the soft trigger that finally opens up the Legendary Hunter chain at Lioncrest Manor.
Head to the entrance of Lioncrest Manor. A quest-giver NPC is waiting at the front of the manor to begin the Legendary Hunter quest chain, which is the narrative thread that leads directly to the Black Lion hunt. Accept the quest to move to the next stage.
The Legendary Hunter chain asks you to find and speak with a hunter NPC. To unlock his location information, you need to reach maximum trust with him first. He is trivially easy to satisfy: hand him two pieces of leather through the gift interaction and his trust jumps straight to 100. Once his trust bar is maxed, he shares the information needed to progress.
The next hunter in the chain uses the same gift-based trust system. This one wants two wine bottles to reach 100 trust. Bring the wine with you before initiating the dialogue so you do not have to backtrack. After his trust is maxed, he reveals the exact whereabouts of the Black Lion on the world map.
Travel to the marked location and examine the bodies scattered around the area. Pull out your lantern to pick up the scent trail and track the beast to its current position. The fight itself pits Kliff against the Black Lion and a group of companion wolves. Depending on your gear, this can be a tough encounter, so bring food and a weapon suited to fast-moving targets. Once the lion is down, interact with its corpse to skin it and collect the Black Lion Earring.
At maximum refinement, the Black Lion Earring grants +4 Movement Speed and passive Health Regeneration. Because earring stats apply globally to Kliff rather than only when a specific weapon is equipped, this earring becomes a permanent foundation piece that never needs to be replaced. Paired with the Witch's Earring, which also caps at +4 Movement Speed, the two earrings together provide 8 baseline Movement Speed, the maximum reliable value Kliff can reach from the earring slots alone. Combine this pair with the Witch's Ring and Mark of Darkness for 8 baseline Attack Speed, and a Necklace of Lightning for the +4 Crit and spirit regen slot, to complete the foundation accessory set recommended in the Best Accessories Guide and the Boss Slayer Build Guide.

Before heading out, prepare two items: hide (thin or thick, obtainable from hunting animals) and wine (purchased from the vendor Delia in Hernand). The hide is given to an NPC named Gareth, who provides a map to the Legendary Hunter's location. The wine is given to the Legendary Hunter to earn his trust; once trust is established, he reveals the location of the Black Lion.
Use a lantern to track the Black Lion's blood trail through the wilderness. Upon reaching the end of the trail, the Black Lion attacks alongside a group of female lionesses. Defeat and skin the Black Lion to obtain the Black Lion Earring.
At maximum enhancement, the Black Lion Earring provides the following bonuses:

|---|---|
