Corrected the leadership table: Markus Mäki is Chief Product Officer and a board member rather than CEO and chairman, Mikael Kasurinen is a creative director rather than game director, and the sitting CEO and board chairman were missing entirely. Also corrected Mäki's shareholding to the current filed figure
Remedy Entertainment is the Finnish studio developing and self-publishing Control Resonant. Founded in Espoo in 1995, the company has spent three decades building narrative-driven action games on its own proprietary tech. Resonant is the first sequel it ships on the Control IP after buying the rights back in early 2024.

Remedy was founded on August 18, 1995 by ex-members of the Finnish demoscene group Future Crew. Those roots gave the early company a deep bench of engine and graphics programmers, and that in-house technology culture has carried through every project. The studio went public on Nasdaq Helsinki in 2017 under the ticker REMEDY, funding a multi-project pipeline and a long-term move toward self-publishing. In 2022 it opened a second studio in Stockholm.

The catalog spans noir crime, cosmic horror, time-warping science fiction, and paranatural action. Control (2019) introduced the Federal Bureau of Control setting that Control Resonant continues. FBC: Firebreak (2025) is a separate co-op shooter inside the Oldest House, not a Control sequel.

Sam Lake first joined as the writer on Death Rally and has been the studio's creative throughline since; he is credited under his given name, Sami Järvi, in company filings. Remedy carries two creative directors, with Kasurinen holding the title on Resonant. Markus Mäki is a founding member who has worked on every Remedy project since 1995 and now serves as Chief Product Officer while sitting on the board; he is also the company's largest individual shareholder. On Resonant, Sergey Mohov heads design for the melee combat systems that define the sequel.
Northlight is Remedy's proprietary engine, originally built for Quantum Break in 2016 and iterated continually since. It is tightly coupled to destructible environments, volumetric lighting, and integrated cinematic playback for live-action sequences. Owning the tech end to end lets the studio ship distinctive games at a smaller team size than most peers.
For Resonant, Northlight has been pushed further: stable 60 FPS during destruction-heavy combat, expanded draw distance for outdoor zones, more simultaneous enemies on screen, and a broader lighting palette covering daylight, fog, and weather the original Control's corridors never needed. The shift to a paranaturally altered Manhattan drove those investments.
For the sequel's marketing, the studio also commissioned original music. The Summer Game Fest trailer that premiered on June 5, 2026 was built around an exclusive song, "Manalan Mailla", performed by Finnish ethno-pop artist Vilma Jää and written by Teemu Brunila, Jurek, and Vilma Jää. The track was composed specifically for the game and draws on the Ingrian ensemble runonlaulu tradition, with heterophonic choral parts and lyrics built on alliteration and iteration. Beyond the music, the studio kept up a steady trailer cadence into mid-2026: a "Take CONTROL" trailer and an accompanying developer mini-documentary debuted at the PC Gaming Show on June 8, 2026, with the creative and level-design leads discussing how Resonant expands beyond the Oldest House into a paranaturally transformed Manhattan and how Gravity Anomalies, traversal, and melee combat fit together.
Score duties sit with Petri Alanko, a long-standing Remedy collaborator. The studio published the announcement trailer's music as a standalone track, "Obsessive Compulsive Order", crediting him directly, and an original soundtrack is one of the items bundled with the deluxe edition. The wider audio picture is covered on the Music and Audio page.
Remedy is a listed company and reports on its projects by stage gate every quarter, which makes the studio's own disclosures the cleanest record of where Resonant sits. In the first-quarter 2026 review the game was logged in full production, with the studio stating it was on track for a 2026 launch and that marketing spend would step up sharply before release. The same report described Resonant as the most localised game Remedy has made, carrying eight audio languages, with Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese dubs new for a Remedy title. Alongside it, the company listed a remake project in full production for an external publisher and one unannounced project at proof-of-concept stage. Remedy's next scheduled financial disclosure, the half-year report covering January to June 2026, is due on August 11, 2026.
For most of its history Remedy worked with external publishers. Resonant is a deliberate move toward self-publishing, made possible by two 2024 transactions. In February 2024, Remedy acquired the full Control IP from 505 Games for approximately seventeen million euros, consolidating ownership of the 2019 game and any sequels. In August 2024, Remedy announced a co-financing and co-production partnership with Annapurna Pictures that also covers film and television adaptation rights for the franchise.
Resonant therefore ships under the Remedy label, with Annapurna sharing financial risk and adaptation upside. The budget has been described as roughly fifty million euros, with break-even pegged at around three to four million units sold.
Several specifics about the studio and its current production have not been disclosed and should be treated as open questions:
Exact size of the Resonant team versus Alan Wake 2.
Split of work between the Espoo and Stockholm offices on Resonant.
Future projects beyond Resonant and FBC: Firebreak.
Whether the Annapurna deal extends to specific film or TV projects in active production.
See also the Overview and the melee combat systems page.
Pre-launch press has named the following Remedy staff in connection with Control Resonant. The roster is incomplete by design; Remedy has not yet released a full credit list, and many of the named roles are public spokespeople rather than the full team.

Resonant is the first Control game Remedy is publishing in-house. The studio acquired the full Control IP from its previous publisher in early 2024 and structured the sequel as a self-published title from that point. The Annapurna Pictures partnership covers half the development cost and brings film and television adaptation rights into the picture, but does not act as the game's publisher. On the Xbox side, Remedy has also confirmed that it is shipping through the ID@Xbox programme, which is how Xbox Play Anywhere support is being delivered at launch.
Half-year reporting published on August 11, 2026 put Control Resonant at full production stage-gate status with the September date intact, and framed the second half of the year around the launch. The studio is self-publishing the game, and the report describes it as the largest and most ambitious release the studio has attempted.
The same report gave the first public commercial figures: over 1.5 million wishlists across platforms, and a top-three PlayStation pre-order position in the United States, Germany and Brazil during the post-announcement campaign window. Marketing costs weighed on the quarter as planned, and the studio said spending would accelerate again before release. It also noted that the move to melee-led action, the most contested part of the reveal, has become one of the most consistently praised parts of the hands-on previews.
