Control Resonant splits its quests into a main story, a questline about finding Jesse Faden, hunts for the zone bosses called Resonants, and a large layer of side stories and smaller activities. This page is a hub: it explains how the quests are organised and lists the early main quests and the side stories by name. It does not summarise plots, and later main quests are not listed, to avoid spoilers.
How Quests Are Organised
Before release, Remedy described the structure in its own terms: Dylan's Journey is the spine of the main campaign, and World Quests are independent side stories that can be picked up and dropped on the player's own schedule. Guides to the released game group the quest log into three questlines:
Questline | What It Covers | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Contain the Crisis | The main story | Some main quests cannot be finished until a particular Jesse Sighting or Resonant is done. |
Search for Jesse | The Jesse Sightings, quests set inside Faults | Each grants Dylan a traversal ability. |
Defeating Resonants | The zone bosses, one in every zone except the Evacuation Zone | Some are needed to advance the main story; the Resonant beneath The Park is optional. |
The order is flexible after the opening. Once Dylan reaches Central, the Evacuation Zone, the West Incursion Zone and The Park can be tackled in any order, while the Underpass and The Unknown open up through the story. Each zone levels up as Dylan completes quests and activities inside it; see Zone Levels and Manhattan.
Early Main Quests
Walkthroughs of the released game list the opening main quests of Contain the Crisis in this order. Later main quests are not listed on this page to avoid spoilers.
Orientation, the opening quest, which ends with the first Resonant, The Artist
Welcome to Manhattan
Evacuation Procedures
Arish's Briefing
Power Lines and Into the Sinkhole, which can be played in either order
Enemy of My Enemy
Arish's Briefing (the quest title guides to the released game use), given by Simon Arish, is the quest that opens both Power Lines and Into the Sinkhole.
Jesse Sightings
The Search for Jesse questline is made up of Jesse Sightings. Each one sends Dylan into a Fault, entered through a television screen, where he helps his sister complete a ritual and comes away with a new traversal ability.
Quest | Zone | Traversal Ability |
|---|---|---|
Jesse Sightings: The Incursion Fault | West Incursion Zone | Shift |
Jesse Sightings: The Subway Fault | Evacuation Zone | Reach |
Jesse Sightings: The Underpass Fault | Underpass | Not listed on this page |
Dylan's first movement abilities, including the double jump, Elevate and Rush, come from a Fault ritual during the opening in Downtown. Coverage of footage shown before release called the subway mission the Metro Fault; the released quest is The Subway Fault. The abilities are described on Abilities.
Resonant Hunts
Six Resonants anchor the zones of Manhattan, one in every zone except the Evacuation Zone, and defeating one offers Dylan a choice of new combat abilities. The first, the Artist, is fought at the end of the opening. The Dancer waits in the West Incursion Zone, The Deserter in Central, and The Collective beneath The Park. The Resonants of the Underpass and The Unknown are not covered on this page to avoid spoilers.
Side Stories
Side stories are handed out as Dylan explores, many of them by his handler, Zoe De Vera. Side stories named in guides to the released game include:
Freeze Frame
Every Dog Has Her Day
The Last Taxi
Panopticon Service Request
The Complete Set
Crossing the Threshold
Side content is also tracked by the game's achievements, for example Panopticon Intern ("Contain Altered Items and help Langston.") and Threshold Researcher ("Deal with all the Thresholds in Manhattan."). The full list is on Trophies and Achievements.
Other Activities
Alongside quests, each zone has smaller activities that feed its zone level, including World Feats and FBC Tasks, both named in the game's achievements. These are covered on Side Activities.
After the Story
Finishing the main story does not end the save. Remedy says players can keep going with unfinished side quests, World Feats or a New Game Plus run, and a New Game++ update is due in October 2026; see Patches and Updates.
