Mikoto
August 26, 2026 at 09:33 AM
Pinned the meeting to Chapter 2 and the golem fight that precedes it, and documented that he is the Communicator contact who unlocks respec and Skill Mods
Mikoto is one of four characters the developers held back until launch day. He is a blighted boy, marked by the same contamination that makes Emma an outcast, and he is travelling to gather amber so he can save his homeland. He is voiced in Japanese by Akira Ishida.
Detail | Value |
|---|---|
Japanese name | ミコト |
Role | Blighted boy searching for amber to save his homeland |
First revealed | Launch day, 4 August 2026 |
First met | Chapter 2, in the Ancient Civilization Zone |
Japanese voice | Akira Ishida |
Function aboard the ship | Communicator contact, called to reset attribute and skill points |
Mikoto turns up in Chapter 2, during the Ancient Civilization Zone stretch of the journey. Emma runs into him immediately after killing the elite golem that drops the Lightning Stone, the key that opens the gate to the Nushi's lair, which places the encounter shortly before the Lacerta fight and early in the route rather than at the endgame. Amber is the currency of the world and the thing every settlement is short of, so a boy crossing blighted country to collect it puts him in the same position as everyone else Emma passes: reliant on a resource that only exists where the danger is.
His later role runs directly into end-of-game story material, which this page does not cover.
Meeting him is a systems milestone as much as a story beat. Two features switch on once the Chapter 2 encounter is done, and one of them runs through him for the rest of the campaign.
Unlocked | What It Does |
|---|---|
Attribute and skill reset | Return to the Cleanse Walker, open the Communicator, call Mikoto and choose Reset Attributes. Emma's and Koo's attribute points come back along with the skill points spent behind them, charged in Amber scaled to how much is being undone. |
Skill Mods | Modifiers that attach to Koo's Bloom Arts through the equipment menu. Each one adds an effect and raises the FP cost of the art it is fitted to. |
He stays a listed contact in the ship's Communicator afterwards, which is what keeps a committed build from being permanent. Neither feature is forced on the player, and neither one is available before the Chapter 2 meeting.
The rest of the cast is on Voice Cast, and Amber explains the resource he is looking for. Emma and Koo cover the two characters he travels alongside.
