Snowfield Where the Storm Sleeps
October 6, 2026 at 11:47 PM
Initial version (2026-10-06)
Snowfield Where the Storm Sleeps (폭풍이 잠든 설원) is a capture-the-flag map of the Battlefield on the Korean and Taiwanese service. The English name is a literal translation; NCsoft has not used an English name for the map. It was added as the new Season 2 battlefield on January 21, 2026, replacing the Season 1 map, and on April 8, 2026 the battlefield switched back to the Season 1 map. The official guidebook, last updated August 13, 2026, still describes it as one of the battlefield's modes, playable when it is the current mode shown on the battlefield screen. The battlefield has run Battlefield: Siege on the Sandstorm Temple map since July 1, 2026.
Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
Players | 20 per match: two teams of ten, Red and Blue |
Scoring | Bring the enemy team's flag back while protecting your own to score one point |
Victory | Two points win at once. When time runs out the team with more points wins. |
Time | Ten minutes. A tie at the end goes to overtime of up to five minutes, in which the first team to score wins. |
Respawn | Ten seconds after death at the team's resurrection point, with no limit on the number of revivals |
Stats | Under the battlefield rules in force since July 1, 2026, after this map's run, all participants have equal stats; Mastery skills are fixed at level 20 and Stigma skills at level 25 |
The Red team's base is Flamestorm Fortress (불꽃폭풍 요새), at eleven o'clock on the map, and the Blue team's is Froststorm Fortress (서리폭풍 요새), at five o'clock; both names are literal translations. Each base starts with its team's flag planted in it. Interacting with a flag picks it up. If the carrier dies, the flag drops where they fell: interacting with your own team's dropped flag returns it to your base, and interacting with the enemy's picks it up again.
Carrying a flag has a cost. Its weight stops the carrier from gliding, the carrier stays in combat the whole time, and some skill effects cannot be applied to them. The world map and minimap show both flags and both flag carriers with their own icons.
Feature | How it works |
|---|---|
Resurrection points and wind paths | Each team revives at its own point, and a wind path in front of it carries players quickly back into the fight |
Union of Fate (운명의 결합체; literal translation) | Appears at intervals on the central cliff, reached by wind path. Interacting with it grants a bomb buff. |
Raging storm | At intervals a storm sweeps the map. A snowflake above each character fills up, and anyone who has not picked up a red orb before it lights up fully is frozen. |
Buff orbs | Appear at intervals along the map's paths and grant one of: attack increase, cooldown reduction, attack speed increase, defense increase or movement speed increase |
A player holding the bomb buff presses F or the bomb icon to get ready, aims the throw with the mouse on PC or by moving the screen on mobile, and throws with a click, F or the icon; Esc cancels. The Union of Fate gives one of three bombs:
Bomb | Effect |
|---|---|
Powerful damage bomb | Deals heavy damage to enemies in the area |
Mushroom transformation bomb | Turns enemies in the area into mushrooms for eight seconds |
Invincibility bomb | Makes allies in the area invincible for eight seconds |
The Sandstorm Temple map uses the same bomb system, with the Union of Fate spawning on floating islands instead.
The match status board shows your team (Blue or Red), the time left including any overtime, the score, and whether a relic has appeared.
