This page covers how characters level in AION 2: the level cap, where experience comes from, what unlocks along the way and the catch-up programs for new and returning players. It is built from NCsoft's official Korean guidebook and update notes, so the details describe the Korean and Taiwanese service unless a line says otherwise.
Level Cap
Service | Cap | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Korean and Taiwanese | 50 | 45 from launch on November 19, 2025; raised to 50 by the Chapter 1 update on July 1, 2026, which added Eltnen and Morheim |
Global | Not stated | As of October 7, 2026, NCsoft's global notices and Steam posts do not state the global level cap or mention level 50 |
Where Experience Comes From
The guidebook's Journal (J) groups quests into four kinds, and quests are the main source of experience. Clicking a quest, or pressing Alt and its number, moves the character to the objective automatically.
Quest type | Korean | What it gives |
|---|---|---|
Episode | 에피소드 | The main story. Base rewards are experience and currency, with some items as extra rewards. |
District | 지역 | Quests in each region. Main rewards are Daevanion Crystals, Daeva tokens (데바의 증표), cube (inventory) expansions, and sometimes gear or titles. |
Duty | 사명 | Duty Quests, taken from the Journal or from Duty Scroll items (지령서). The guidebook says five run at once; the January 21, 2026 update raised this to ten and the April 1, 2026 update to twenty. Duties can be refreshed up to 50 times a day, free at set intervals and for a fee after a number of uses. On October 7, 2026 the Duty rewards in Verteron and Altgard were raised to match Eltnen and Morheim. |
Ascension | 각성 | Trials that promote the character and open new content (see below). |
Dying costs no experience or items, according to the guidebook's death and resurrection page (see Death and Resurrection).
Ascension and the Daeva Gauge
Ascension quests are promotion trials. Progress toward the next one is shown on the Daeva gauge, which fills from episode quests, district quests, garrisons, sealed dungeons and other hidden content in the world. When the gauge reaches 100%, the next Ascension quest starts and the gauge resets. Clicking the gauge lists the remaining conditions. Sealed dungeons and garrisons are covered on Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons.

Growth Support and Sprout Badge
Since July 1, 2026 the Korean service has run four Growth Support (성장 서포트) programs, each a track of missions with rewards, found under ESC then Growth Support: Exciting First Step (설레는 첫걸음), Taking Flight (새로운 비상), New World Explorer (신대륙 탐험가) and Slow But Steady (천천히, 꾸준히). The program window runs until the November 4, 2026 maintenance, and the activation coins expire on October 28, 2026 at 05:00.
Exciting First Step is activated with a coin bought for 0 Quna in the shop's Event tab, from character level 10. Existing players can activate it on one character and new or returning players on two. Paying a further 100 Kina adds its premium rewards.
The other three need an active Kwairing Express Membership (the Korean service's membership), whose members' shop sells their coins. New or returning players can activate Taking Flight on up to two characters.
The guidebook says the missions mostly complete by following the main story. Chapter 1's Growth Support also supported Tier 4 gear and wings, Genus Insight level 10 for pets, five Stigmas at level 15 and teleports for the older regional quests.
New accounts (first login after the May 20, 2026 maintenance) and returning accounts (28 days or more away, back after June 14, 2026) count as new or returning.
A new or returning player who subscribes and activates Taking Flight gets the Sprout Badge, which gives +5% PvP damage boost and +5% PvP damage tolerance. The badge ends at a set Combat Power and item level or when it expires. Other players who clear an eligible dungeon with a badged player receive part of the Odyle Energy the newcomer spent, at most twice. The guidebook's Chapter 1 summary also points newcomers to the Chaotic Upper Reshanta Abyss layer, which only characters at or under item level 4,300 or 400K Combat Power can enter.
