Character Creation and Customization

Character creation in AION 2 sets three things that are hard or impossible to change later, and one thing you can keep fiddling with forever. Get the first three right and the rest is play.

Choice | How permanent | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
Faction | Permanent per character | Elyos or Asmodian decides your starting territory, your story, and which side of the faction war you spawn into. Because the global service runs faction-separated servers , it also decides which server list you can roll on. |
Server | Changeable only through a transfer service | NCsoft has committed to an AION 2 Server Transfer Service but has not dated it for the global build. Start on the server your friends are on. |
Class | No class change in the current build | Pick from the class roster . Levelling a second character is the supported way to try another role. |
Appearance is the exception. It is the one creation-time decision the game expects you to revisit, through paid restyling items and the wardrobe layer.
The storefront copy counts more than two hundred adjustable options, and NCsoft has pitched character creation as one of the game's headline systems rather than a preamble to it. The editor covers body proportions, face structure, skin tone and gloss, hair with two-tone dye pickers, voice presets, and lighting controls so you can judge a face under the conditions you will actually see it in.
That toolset is one of the few launch features described for the global build directly rather than inherited from Korean and Taiwanese patch notes, and the Korean and Taiwanese build has kept extending it, adding wardrobe patterns and independent width and height scaling for pattern placement.
Each account gets four character slots at global launch. On the Korean and Taiwanese build, NCsoft granted every account one extra free slot when the Brawler arrived, so players could try the new class without deleting anything. Whether the global build repeats that pattern when it receives a new class is unannounced.
The Korean and Taiwanese build also added a character switch option to the main menu, letting you jump straight to another character without returning to the lobby, with combat power and item level shown per character.
Layer | What it does |
|---|---|
Restyling | Paid appearance changes, sold as vouchers. The Korean and Taiwanese build has run repeated Look Change Week events that halve the cost. |
Closet and wardrobe | Stores cosmetic sets and lets you apply them over your actual gear. Skins are appearance-only and grant no stats. |
Wings | Wings are a stat-bearing equipment slot with a cosmetic skin layer on top. Wing skins sold in the shop grant no stats. See Aerial Combat and Flight . |
Pets and mounts | Cosmetic companions and rides, some with utility functions such as auto-pickup. |
One caution for players coming in at launch: during the Launch Scale Test the Closet was disabled entirely and every character wore default outfits. That was a test restriction, not a design.
Classes for the roster. Factions: Elyos and Asmodian for the faction choice. Getting Started for what to do once you are in the world.
