Switch 2 Version
September 14, 2026 at 03:15 AM
Corrected the Gamescom showing to the Nintendo booth in Hall 9, removed an incorrect claim that the studio had never shipped on Nintendo platforms, and re-measured the missing release date against current sources
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light has been confirmed but has no announced release date. It was held back from the May 27, 2026 launch of the other platforms to allow more optimization time. It will be a separate platform release rather than launching alongside PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on May 27, 2026. IO Interactive has confirmed the port but has not detailed the visual settings, framerate target, or exclusive features at the time of launch.
Field | Status |
|---|---|
Platform | Confirmed: Nintendo Switch 2 |
Release window | No confirmed window (see below) |
Specific release date | Not announced |
Engine version | Evolved Glacier Engine (Switch 2 build) |
Day-one parity with other platforms | Not at launch (the Switch 2 release is later) |
Cross-buy with other platforms | Not announced |
Cloud-save / save transfer | Not announced |
The port was publicly playable for the first time at Gamescom 2026 in late August, on the Nintendo booth in Hall 9 rather than on a stand of IO Interactive’s own. The studio promoted the appearance as a chance to be among the first to play 007 First Light on Nintendo Switch 2. That confirmed a working build without attaching a date to it, and it remains the last first-party sighting of the port.
Resolution targets (docked vs. handheld)
Framerate targets (30 FPS vs. dynamic 30/60)
DLSS or other upscaling support on Switch 2 hardware
Touchscreen or mouse-mode control adjustments
Any Switch 2 exclusive features (Joy-Con motion, HD Rumble use beyond standard)
Whether the Switch 2 release will be physical, digital, or both
This article will be updated as IO Interactive confirms additional details. Players should not infer Switch 2 features from launch coverage of the PS5 and Xbox versions; the port will have its own technical profile.
IO Interactive has cited the Switch 2's improved horsepower as enabling a port that would not have been viable on the original Switch. The Switch 2's larger memory pool and improved GPU make a Glacier Engine build feasible at a quality level the studio considers acceptable.
The window itself is no longer stated consistently by the studio. IO Interactive's announcement of August 20, 2026 places the Switch 2 launch later in 2026 in one passage and later in Summer 2026 in another passage of the same release, and the studio has not said which supersedes the other. Because the primary source disagrees with itself, neither wording is treated here as the confirmed window, and no date circulating outside official channels is recorded on this page. A Summer 2026 window was earlier reconfirmed in the Year One content roadmap revealed in June 2026. Re-checked on September 13, 2026, no specific release date had been announced on the official news feed, the storefront event feed, the studio’s support pages, or the game account on the studio’s social channels, and the Summer window has effectively run out without one. The studio’s support page points players at their regional storefront listing rather than naming a date.
