Heroes and Commanders are the leader units at the center of every ZeroSpace army. You pick a hero at the start of a match or mission, and that hero anchors your force with special abilities and battlefield presence. The design goal is support and flavor rather than a single unstoppable champion: heroes help command your army and perform special feats, but they do not dominate on their own.
You choose one hero at the beginning of a game, drawn from your faction or a mercenary faction.
Heroes scale their health and damage with your faction's experience level, so they grow alongside your army.
When a hero falls, it respawns automatically after a delay rather than being lost for good.
Abilities are cast from a shared interface, so you can use hero powers without switching away from your army.
In the opening minutes, your hero is key to securing experience towers on the map, which feed the faction leveling that powers the rest of your build. That makes smart hero positioning an important early skill.
Not every faction uses heroes the same way. Most field a single hero at a time, but the Legion of Truth can deploy three heroes at once, building its whole identity around them. In the Campaign, ten specialist heroes can be recruited and developed, while more than fourteen leaders are available across multiplayer. See Crew and Recruitment for how campaign heroes join your roster and Units for the forces they lead.
The studio has named at least one commander for every main and mercenary faction. The Legion of Truth are the exception to the usual one-hero rule and field all of their heroes in a single battle.
