Veteran Insignia is an Epic reputation item in Windrose. It is the third rung in the four-tier Faction Insignia ladder and is farmed from upper-tier Blackbeard ship encounters. The secondary flavor line reads "Taken from someone who didn't make mistakes," framing the insignia as a trophy carried only by seasoned pirates. Turning one in at a Tortuga Bounty Agent gives a large single-hand-in reputation bump.

Veteran Insignia is not bought or sold by any vendor. The only use is reputation hand-in at a faction's Bounty Agent.

How to Cash Out

A Veteran Insignia is one of the largest single-item reputation boosts in the game short of a quest completion. A single Veteran Insignia can shift the bar more than a dozen Newhand Insignias combined, which makes them too valuable to turn in casually. Most players hold Veteran Insignias until they are within reach of a rank threshold, then burn one to cross it in a single turn-in.

The Highlands Giga Camp is the only guaranteed chest source (3 per clear). Frigates and Ketches round out the drop table, and a Frigate fully cleared by both sinking and boarding can net 2 Veteran Insignias in one encounter.

Tips

• Ketch boarding is the most reliable Veteran Insignia farm: 100% drop rate per successful boarding. Keep a ranged weapon on hand for the captain's cabin sweep.

• Frigate encounters are the highest-yield (2 insignias possible), but they require heavier gear. Pair a Frigate run with Specialized Tools cargo runs for parallel income.

• Pair Veteran Insignia hand-ins with a Deckhand Insignia stack: burn the Deckhands first for incremental progress, then cross the rank threshold with a single Veteran.

Reputation Payout

Turning in one Veteran Insignia at any faction Bounty Agent grants +20 reputation with the chosen faction. The value is identical at every Bounty Agent stall, so the item can be routed to whichever faction is closest to its next rank threshold.

Rank 2 requires 100 reputation, Rank 3 requires 400, and Rank 4 requires 1,000. A single Veteran Insignia therefore closes 20% of the gap from Rank 1 to Rank 2.

Drops from Blackbeard elites (Pirate Sergeants, Grenadiers) in high-tier camps, plus named encounters at sea. Higher-tier drop rate than Deckhand.
