The Uncommon Two-Handed Sword requires a Level 2 Weaponsmith Workshop, which is one of the earliest gating steps in the greatsword progression chain. Flavor: "A greatsword well suited to combat against both large beasts and groups of two-legged foes." It is the base for the Greatswords category progression up to the Rare tier.
A widely shared beginner loadout from community guides pairs the Two-Handed Sword with the Blunderbuss. Both weapons scale with Agility, so every level point spent on Agility improves melee and ranged damage together. That shared scaling is the reason the pairing keeps showing up in community loadouts: one attribute stat covers the whole combat kit, and respec points do not get split across multiple scaling routes.
Why the pairing works in practice: the Two-Handed Sword handles extended melee exchanges where heavier armor and group fights come into play, and the Blunderbuss covers the short-range burst situations the sword struggles with (a charging boar, a boarding rush, or cleaning up a wounded target at 5 to 10 meters). Swapping between the two through a single Agility build removes the usual friction of needing two separate stat investments to run a melee plus ranged combo.
