Soul Eater

Corrections from audit: rarity Rare → Epic, added Vitality scaling alongside Agility, added life-steal on hit, confirmed Ghost Captain as drop source. Fixed prior duplication with ghost-captains-sword (same weapon).
The Soul Eater is an Epic-tier greatsword in Windrose dropped by the Ghost Captain dungeon boss. It is one of the most sought-after endgame weapons because it has both a life-steal passive on each hit and a Vitality-scaling F-attack, enabling hybrid tank-DPS builds that no other weapon in the current game supports.

Each successful hit drains a portion of health from the target and restores it to the wielder. The exact life-steal percentage is still being documented, but the effect is meaningful enough that the Soul Eater materially reduces a player's reliance on Healing Potions during extended fights. Community sources describe it as the weapon "actively reducing your reliance on those fifteen to twenty portions of healing."
The Soul Eater's F-attack drains Health from all nearby enemies when used, on a 2-minute cooldown. F-attack damage scales with Vitality, meaning the same attribute that builds your health pool also powers this offensive ability. In dense groups, a single F-attack can top off your HP from multiple targets at once, turning a near-death into full health in a single animation.
Because the Soul Eater scales with both Agility and Vitality, it rewards a hybrid tank-DPS build that would otherwise have no competitive weapon option. Toughguy talents like Stout Frame (+120 to 240 max HP) and Too Angry to Die (30-70% HP restore on lethal hit) pair naturally with the Soul Eater's sustain. Crusher's Massive (+5-10% two-handed damage) amplifies the Agility side of scaling. Pre-fight food buffs stacking Vitality and Agility extract maximum value from the weapon's dual scaling.
Community tier lists vary in their assessment. The Soul Eater is often called "the community's most coveted Greatsword" for its dual-scaling niche, though some tier lists place it mid-pack (C-tier) due to perceived average scaling numbers compared to other Epic weapons. The Soul Eater's value is highest in builds that deliberately lean into its hybrid identity; pure DPS builds may prefer higher-scaling alternatives.
The Soul Eater's in-game lore says the blade "belonged to the Ghost Captain." It is part of Windrose's supernatural weapon lineup alongside the Plague Halberd, Arboris Saber, and Dragon's Breath. Together these weapons hint at ghost ships and spectral pirate entities connected to Blackbeard's pact with dark powers and the broader supernatural corruption of the setting.
