Overview

Paintings are wall-mounted framed artworks in Windrose. They are grouped by subject: Landscape, Sea Landscape, Urban Landscape, Portrait, and Still Life. Each base subject has several frame and pattern variants, and every painting adds Comfort +1 to the room it hangs in.

Subjects at a Glance

Each subject shares a flavor description and grants the same comfort. The cheapest variant of every subject uses coarse cloth; the larger framed variants step up to finer materials.

Paintings Pieces

Paintings hang from any wall piece. They snap to the wall center and are oriented toward the room interior.

Subject choice sets the mood: a Sea Landscape for a captain's cabin, an Urban Landscape for a merchant's office, Portraits for a hall of ancestors, and Still Life for a dining room.

Frame variants mostly change the frame color and trim; the painting inside changes with the variant number.

Crafting and Materials

Paintings are built at a workbench from cloth and wood. The smallest Landscape frames need only Coarse Fabric and a single piece of Wood, which makes them one of the cheapest ways to lift a room's comfort early on. Larger framed variants ask for Linen Fabric and Hardwood instead. Since the comfort value is identical across every subject, pick by the look you want, not by cost.

Tips

• Hang a series of Portraits in a row along a hallway for an ancestor gallery.

• Use a large Sea Landscape above a Fireplace as a focus.

• Pair Still Life paintings with a Decorative Table and Food Display Decorations for a dining scene.

• Comfort +1 bonuses in a given decoration sub-category do not stack. Placing a second piece of the same sub-category does not add more comfort, it only changes the aesthetic.
