The Open Scroll is a Books-category decoration that adds Comfort to a base. It is a flat prop showing a half-inked diagram, paired in the same crafting plan with the closely related Open Book.
The page depicts some kind of mechanism, though half of it is blacked out with ink. A note at the bottom reads: "If something breaks, pretend it's the intended behavior."
Overview
Open Scroll is a decorative Books piece rather than a functional station. Its only mechanical purpose is the Comfort it contributes to a living space. Comfort raises the quality of a base's rest area, and books are one of the categories that feed into the overall total.
Works only within the Bonfire range. Place it inside the radius of a lit Bonfire for the bonus to count.
Comfort +1. Comfort bonuses in this category do not stack, so adding a second Books decoration of the same type does not raise the figure further. See the Comfort System page for how category bonuses combine into a total.

How to Build
Open Scroll is a fast, cheap build: it costs Wood x3 and takes about one second to place. The recipe is taught by the Decoration: Books and Scrolls plan, which also unlocks the matching Open Book prop, so learning one plan gives you both Books decorations at once.

Open Scroll is a decoration in the building progression rather than a standalone collectible. The single recipe row above shows everything it needs: a small amount of Wood, the Decoration: Books and Scrolls plan to unlock it, and a Bonfire nearby for the Comfort bonus to apply. Because the Books category bonus does not stack, one Open Scroll or one Open Book is enough to claim the +1; extra copies are purely visual.
