Food Dryer is an upgrade extender that snaps to a Cooking Fire. Placing it inside the base station's extender footprint unlocks the recipes gated behind this extender on the base station's own craft list. It does not craft items on its own; the base station handles all recipes.
The Food Dryer is the most unusual of the Cooking extenders because its construction cost includes five Fish Fillet and five Lobster Mushroom, both of which are consumables in their own right. That makes the Food Dryer a late-game build: you pay dry-goods directly to unlock longer-shelf recipes at the Cooking Fire.
Stockpile Fish Fillets at the Cutting Table before starting the Food Dryer build. Five fillets is trivial after a single long fishing run but slow to grind without the Cutting Table.
Lobster Mushroom spawns in swamp and jungle biomes; keep a map of three or four reliable spawns for refills.
Dried provisions unlocked here stack higher than fresh meals, which is critical for multi-island voyages far from a resupply camp.
Food Dryer should be evaluated by what it unlocks, sells, or refines. Use the station and output rows to connect it to the larger production chain, then follow the linked material and recipe pages before spending currency or building resources.
