Crab Shell is a rare pickup from the small orange Crabs that wander the Coastal Jungle beaches during the day. Approach a beach crab and collect it like a resource node; roughly one in twenty drops a shell, so plan on clearing several crabs per shell. It does not come from the night-time crab-shaped enemies (see the clarification below).
Crab Shell has a single confirmed use: the Trophy Crab wall decoration, which adds Comfort to a sheltered base. It must be mounted within a Bonfire radius to count.

Crab Shell is dropped by the small orange beach crabs that scuttle along coastal jungle beaches during the day. The crab-shaped enemies that appear at night, including the larger Thorn Fiddler, do not drop Crab Shell even though they share the crab silhouette and the Crab Meat drop. The distinction matters because the shell is the gated ingredient for the Trophy Crab comfort decoration, and time spent farming thorn fiddlers for the shell yields nothing no matter how many are cleared.

Because the shell is gated to a single beach-crab spawn and drops at a low rate, farm it as part of a wider coastal sweep rather than grinding crabs in place. The same shoreline route yields Crab Meat and Triton's Horn, so a single lap can supply everything the Trophy Crab needs.
