Campaign
October 20, 2026 at 08:04 PM
Initial version (2026-10-20)
The campaign of Tropico 7 is a story mode told across 5 campaign maps. Kalypso Media describes it as El Presidente's "continuous success story", starring El Presidente himself, his advisor Penultimo and a new nemesis, Victoria Guerra. The first mission, "Little Great Britain", is playable in the free Tropico 7 Demo.
The story trailer, released on October 9, 2026, gave the first look at the campaign. According to Kalypso, it follows El Presidente's journey "from a humble colonial governor serving the British Crown to the ruler of his own island". The trailer shows his rise through the trappings of his rule: his portrait on every wall, billboards and posters across the island, statues in his honor and a conveniently edited version of history in the books.
The governor starting point was already hinted at in the first gameplay teaser of April 20, 2026, in which El Presidente says: "Today I am governor. Tomorrow… Presidente!"
In the campaign, players build and shape Tropico, deal with rival political factions, issue edicts and make decisions that influence the island's future. Kalypso's store text calls Victoria Guerra "a very clever and very annoying opponent" and ends its campaign pitch with the line "¡Victoria no es la revolución!"

As of October 21, 2026, Kalypso has not named any other campaign characters.
The campaign spans 5 campaign maps. The only mission named so far is the first one, "Little Great Britain", which the October 20, 2026 announcement identifies as the first campaign mission and the content of the demo. As of October 21, 2026, Kalypso has not published the names of the campaign maps or of any later missions.
Tropico 7 has four eras: Colonial Times, World Wars, Cold War and Modern Times. The closed beta scheduled to begin on March 31, 2026 included two selected campaign parts from the Colonial Times and World Wars eras, alongside two scenario missions set in the Cold War and Modern Times. As of October 2026, Kalypso has not said how the full campaign is divided across the eras.
The campaign is separate from the game's other premade content. In addition to the 5 campaign maps, Tropico 7 offers 10 scenario missions at launch (described in the store text as "10 extra scenarios"), more than 20 sandbox maps and a random map generator. The official FAQ counts over 40 premade maps in total. These modes are covered on Scenarios and Sandbox Maps.
The campaign activities named in the story trailer announcement (building, dealing with factions, issuing edicts) correspond to the game's main systems, including city building, terraforming, the Political Matrix, constitutions and edicts and the Council. As of October 2026, Kalypso has not said whether particular systems are introduced step by step during the campaign.
