Sir Lancelot is one of the Spectral Knights that Gwendolyn can summon in Tides of Annihilation. He was introduced in the first story trailer on 25 August 2026, which the studio described as his debut, summoned by Gwendolyn to dispatch enemies in spectacular style.

Introduction

The trailer, "Beneath the Veil", was shown during gamescom Opening Night Live. Its story runs from Gwendolyn at her lowest, amid the ash of a ruined London, through Guinevere urging her to harness the power of the fog, to Gwendolyn taking up the sword and learning to fight alongside the spectral knights. Lancelot is the knight the trailer uses to show that last step.

That places him in the same system as the rest of the roster. Knights are summoned into a fight through the fog, can be dismissed and swapped mid-combat, and are built into loadouts of four drawn from a larger pool. Official store copy describes that pool as over a dozen Knights of the Round Table, of which only a handful have been named.

What Has Not Been Confirmed

He was introduced very recently and the detail around him is minimal. The studio has not described:

• his weapon, or the element he is associated with, both of which are known for other knights such as Sir Lamorak and Palamedes

• whether he is a primary or a secondary knight, or what he contributes in the Partnered State

• any traversal ability, of the kind the playtest knights were used for

• where he sits in the story, or his relationship to Guinevere

He was not part of the pool available in the Chengdu Playtest of August 2026, which offered Bedivere, Gaheris, Gawain, Kay and Palamedes. Nothing has been said about whether he is playable in the gamescom build.

The Game and the Legend

Lancelot is among the best-known knights in the Arthurian cycle, and the studio had previously described its roster as deliberately built around figures who rarely get the spotlight, naming him as one of the defaults it was reaching past. His introduction shows that preference is not absolute. The wider roster still leans toward deeper cuts: Sir Lamorak and Palamedes are both obscure by comparison.

The name carries a great deal of baggage elsewhere, and none of it has been confirmed here. Tides of Annihilation reinterprets the mythos rather than retelling it, and the studio has said plainly that it is not copying the source one to one.
