Gaheris is one of the Spectral Knights that Gwendolyn summons through the Dual Frontline Battle System in Tides of Annihilation. He was one of five knights available in the playable build shown in August 2026, where he served as the roster's wind specialist: a primary knight who improves Gwendolyn's evasion, owns the air, and doubles as her traversal tool outside combat.
Combat Profile
Gaheris fights on wind. His special attacks accumulate feathers on a target, and the fifth stack cashes out as a heavy blow. Players in the August build described him as the pool's strongest aerial option, with cyclones that lift enemies off the ground and hold them there long enough for extended air combos. Keeping him equipped also improves Gwendolyn's own dodge, which suits a hit and run rhythm rather than standing and trading.
Attribute | Confirmed Detail |
|---|---|
Weapon | Bow. |
Element | Wind. |
Loadout slot | Primary. A primary knight carries a dozen or more attack moves, against two for a secondary. |
Signature mechanic | Feather stacks. Special-move hits accrue feathers on the target and the fifth triggers a heavy blow. |
Air control | Cyclones lift enemies into the air, the setup for juggling. The strongest aerial performance among the five knights in the playtest pool. |
Support effect | Raises Gwendolyn's dodge performance, favouring hit and run play. |
Outside combat | Fires an arrow that becomes a zipline across a gap. Arrows also release platforms and cut the ropes holding suspended objects in place. |
Traversal and Puzzles
The knights are not only a combat system. In the playtest build the arrow zipline was the answer to gaps too wide to jump, and arrow shots released platforms and severed ropes so suspended objects dropped where the player needed them. The museum level's environmental puzzles were built around this split of responsibilities, with different knights answering different obstacles: Gaheris crosses and triggers at range, while Palamedes breaks walls, lifts heavy objects and repositions pillars to make a jump possible. A separate boost ability was also used to reach high ground.
A Note on the Name
Some early hands-on coverage rendered this knight's name differently in English. The producer named the demo roster himself when walking through the five knights and their roles, and assigned the wind kit and the zipline to Gaheris. That is the spelling this wiki uses. The name is not Gareth, which is a separate figure in the tradition.
Building Around Gaheris
Loadouts hold four knights at once, two primary and two secondary, and the player can switch between them at any point during a fight. A primary knight carries a dozen or more attack moves; a secondary carries two. Knights can be summoned in the middle of a combo, so their moves extend a chain Gwendolyn has already started.
Partner | Why the pairing works |
|---|---|
A purely grounded primary. Rotating to Gaheris covers the air, the space Bedivere's kit gives up. | |
Slowing an enemy's attacks makes the airborne game safer, since a juggle commits Gwendolyn to a fixed path. | |
Holds enemy attention on the ground while Gaheris works a single target in the air. | |
Slow and heavy as a primary. Gaheris is the mobility half of that pairing, and his dodge bonus offsets Palamedes' weight. |
Grail Shards
The in-game lore glossary states that all of the Knights of the Round Table hold Grail Shards, and that gathering those shards lets Gwendolyn manipulate the fog. Gaheris' own shard has not been shown.
Gaheris in the Legend
None of what follows has been shown as the game's version of events. The studio has been direct that the legend is a starting point rather than a script: game director Ary Chen has said the team is not copying it one to one and will have its own interpretation and narrative, and producer Kun Fu has said the action system was designed first, with the knights, the world and the art built afterwards to fit it.
In the legend, Gaheris is a son of King Lot of Orkney and Morgause, Arthur's half-sister, which makes him Arthur's nephew and a brother to Gawain, Agravain and Gareth. He serves as Gawain's squire before he is knighted himself. Malory gives him the ugliest scene in the Orkney story: finding his mother with Sir Lamorak, he kills her, and the family's long feud with Lamorak ends in Lamorak's murder. Gaheris himself dies unarmed and unrecognised, cut down by Lancelot during the rescue of Guinevere, and that death is the wound that finally splits the Round Table.
The game has shown none of these relationships. Gaheris, Gawain and Lamorak are all present in Tides of Annihilation, but nothing released so far establishes that they carry the legend's history with them. The wider approach to this material is covered on Arthurian Legend in Tides of Annihilation.
What Has Not Been Confirmed
Open question | Current state |
|---|---|
Unlock timing | Not disclosed. The five playtest knights were a fixed selection for that build. |
Place in the full roster | Official material says the finished game lets the player command a band of over ten legendary knights, so the playtest five are a slice rather than the roster. |
Partnered State | No merged form has been shown for Gaheris. Partnered State has been demonstrated with other knights. |
Relationship to the other Orkney knights | Unestablished in the game. The shared surname material belongs to the legend only. |
