Bedivere is one of the Spectral Knights that Gwendolyn summons through the Dual Frontline Battle System in Tides of Annihilation. He was one of five knights available in the playable build shown in August 2026, where he fought as a primary knight with a scythe, a fire affinity, and a moveset built around holding the ground.
Combat Profile
The producer described Bedivere in plain terms as a ground offence knight: his grounded combo strings are the richest of the demo pool and his area attacks cover a wide radius, which makes him comfortable to play whenever an encounter keeps Gwendolyn on the floor. Players in that build used him to clear packs of smaller enemies quickly, then held his heaviest attack for the moment a larger target dropped its guard.
Attribute | Confirmed Detail |
|---|---|
Weapon | Scythe. |
Element | Fire. |
Loadout slot | Primary. A primary knight carries a dozen or more attack moves, against two for a secondary. |
Combat role | Ground offence. Long grounded combo strings and wide area attacks, effective against groups of smaller enemies. |
Resource meter | A meter fills as he fights and powers his heaviest attack. One hands-on account gave the meter the name Crimson Essence; no official material has confirmed that label. |
Finisher | Once the meter is full, his ultimate deals heavy damage to an enemy whose poise has been broken, and splashes onto nearby targets. |
Summoning | Can be called in the middle of a combo, so his moves extend a chain already in progress. |
Building Around Bedivere
Loadouts hold four knights at once, two primary and two secondary, and the player can switch between them at any point during a fight. A primary knight carries a dozen or more attack moves; a secondary carries two. Knights can be summoned in the middle of a combo, so their moves extend a chain Gwendolyn has already started.
Because his payoff attack keys off broken poise, Bedivere rewards a loadout that can strip a poise bar first. That was the exact build logic players described in the August build: send in a knight that breaks guard or locks the target down, then convert with Bedivere.
Partner | Why the pairing works |
|---|---|
His charged, guard-breaking attacks strip poise, which sets up the state Bedivere's finisher punishes hardest. | |
Slows an enemy's attacks, buying the window a full Bedivere ground string needs. | |
Scatters formations and holds enemy attention, which keeps smaller enemies off Bedivere while he commits to a long combo. | |
Covers the air, the one space a grounded kit like Bedivere's does not reach. |
Grail Shards
The in-game lore glossary states that all of the Knights of the Round Table hold Grail Shards, and that gathering those shards is what lets Gwendolyn manipulate the fog. Bedivere's own shard has not been shown, and nothing released so far explains how a knight's shard passes to her.
Bedivere in the Legend
None of what follows has been shown as the game's version of events. The studio has been direct that the legend is a starting point rather than a script: game director Ary Chen has said the team is not copying it one to one and will have its own interpretation and narrative, and producer Kun Fu has said the action system was designed first, with the knights, the world and the art built afterwards to fit it.
In the legend, Bedivere is one of the oldest names in the Arthurian tradition. He serves as Arthur's marshal, a one-handed knight who keeps his place at the Round Table despite the injury, and he is the knight Arthur sends to throw Excalibur back into the lake at the end. He hesitates twice and hides the sword, is sent back each time, and only on the third attempt lets it go and sees the hand rise from the water to catch it. He then carries the dying king to the barge that sails for Avalon. The oldest Welsh material knows him as Bedwyr, one of the first two companions named at Arthur's side, the other being Cei, the figure later romances turn into Kay.
The wider treatment of this material in the game is covered on Arthurian Legend in Tides of Annihilation. Read the paragraph above as background for the name, not as in-game backstory.
What Has Not Been Confirmed
Open question | Current state |
|---|---|
Unlock timing | Not disclosed. The five knights in the playtest were a fixed selection for that build, and nothing has been said about where each one joins in the campaign. |
Place in the full roster | Official material says the finished game lets the player command a band of over ten legendary knights, so the playtest five are a slice rather than the roster. |
Partnered State | No merged form has been shown for Bedivere. Partnered State has been demonstrated with other knights. |
Story role | Nothing has been released about how Bedivere comes to fight alongside Gwendolyn or what he wants from the alliance. |
