Created guide to the Skateboard early transportation item
The Skateboard (also called the Longboard) is an early-game transportation item in Starsand Island. It is one of the first movement upgrades players can obtain, providing a faster alternative to walking with no fuel or maintenance costs. The Skateboard is unlocked by completing Zerine's "Secret of Crafting" quest at the General Store.
The Skateboard is unlocked through the Crafter profession's early quest chain:
Begin the Crafter profession by speaking to Zerine at the General Store
Complete the Apprentice Crafter trial tasks
Zerine gives you the "Secret of Crafting" quest
Complete the quest requirements (crafting specific items)
Receive the Skateboard as a reward
The Skateboard is free to use once obtained. There are no fuel costs, rental fees, or durability concerns. It remains a useful transportation option even after unlocking vehicles from Neona's G-Power Bikes shop, since those cost coins to purchase or rent.
To ride the Skateboard, open the items wheel or select it from your inventory. Your character will mount the board and gain a speed boost over normal walking. The Skateboard works on all flat terrain including roads, paths, beaches, and grassy fields. It does not work on water, steep slopes, or inside buildings.
Transport | Relative Speed | Cost |
|---|---|---|
Walking | Baseline | Free |
Skateboard | Faster than walking | Free (quest reward) |
Rental Mount | Faster than skateboard | 15-30 Coins per hour |
Purchased Vehicle | Fastest land travel | 38,300+ Coins |
Bus Stops | Instant (between stations) | 15 Coins per trip |
The Skateboard sits in a useful middle ground: it is faster than walking and completely free, making it the best transportation option in the early game before players can afford vehicles or mounts.
Prioritize the Crafter profession early to unlock the Skateboard as soon as possible. It saves a lot of walking time during the first few in-game days.
The Skateboard is free and has no upkeep. Use it until you can afford a faster vehicle from G-Power Bikes.
Even after buying vehicles, the Skateboard remains useful for short trips around town where mounting a vehicle would be overkill.
The Skateboard does not consume stamina, unlike sprinting on foot.
Combine the Skateboard with Bus Stops for efficient island travel: ride the bus for long distances, then skateboard the remaining stretch to your destination.
