Iron Ingot
May 2, 2026 at 08:14 PM
Corrected smelting station to Furnace II and fuel to Coal (not Charcoal), expanded with Iron Sheet pipeline and verified consumer list
Iron Ingot is the cornerstone metal of mid-game Starsand Island. It is smelted from Iron Ore at the Furnace II, then rolled into Iron Sheet at the Cutter II for nearly every Junior and Intermediate Crafter recipe. Few materials see more demand through the mid-game.
Detail | Value |
|---|---|
Station | Furnace II |
Ingredients | 4 Iron Ore + 1 Coal |
Output | 1 Iron Ingot |
Crafter Tier | Junior (Furnace II unlocks during the Junior Crafter questline) |
Iron smelting requires Coal, not Charcoal. Coal is produced at the Charcoal Kiln by burning Hardwood, or mined directly in mid-tier Moonlit Forest zones. Furnace II is the upgrade above Furnace I and is unlocked through the Crafter Profession Junior questline.
Iron Ingot is rarely the final form. Most consumer recipes call for Iron Sheet, produced by rolling 1 Iron Ingot into 1 Iron Sheet at Cutter II. Plan to run Furnace II and Cutter II in parallel.
Step | Recipe | Station |
|---|---|---|
1. Smelt | 4 Iron Ore + 1 Coal -> 1 Iron Ingot | Furnace II |
2. Roll | 1 Iron Ingot -> 1 Iron Sheet | Cutter II |
Dreamfall Garden. The first reliable Iron farming zone. Veins are dense throughout. See the Mining Guide for routes.
Crystalith Hideout and beyond. Iron continues to spawn alongside higher-tier ores like Gold and Primorite.
Tool requirement. Iron Ore requires the Impact Hammer (Junior Crafter) to mine. The starter Pickaxe is too weak.
Iron Sheet. The primary derivative form, used in nearly every mid-game upgrade. See Iron Sheet for the full consumer list.
Worktable II upgrade. Iron Sheet (and therefore Iron Ingot) is a major component of the Junior Crafter Workbench Upgrades chain.
Junior tool upgrades. The Machete and Impact Hammer both consume Iron Sheet derived from Iron Ingot.
Bus stop network. Each of the 10 bus stops in the bus stop reconstruction questline uses Iron Sheet alongside Glass Pane and Stone Brick.
Bag expansion. Multiple bag expansion tiers consume Iron Sheet as a key material.
Alloy production. Iron Ingot is one of three components for Alloy (1 Gold + 1 Iron + 1 Copper Ingot + Coal at Furnace II), the late-game crafting metal.
Solid-State Battery. The Senior-tier power component requires Iron Sheet alongside Tin Ingot and Radiant Crystal.
Mine Iron aggressively at Dreamfall Garden. Iron Sheet demand is enormous. Plan multi-trip Iron runs as soon as you reach Dreamfall Garden.
Process in parallel. Run multiple Furnace II and Cutter II stations to keep ingots and sheets flowing during long crafting sessions.
Do not sell Iron Ore raw. Iron Ingot and Iron Sheet sell prices are higher than raw ore, and you almost always need them later.
