The squad in STAR WARS Zero Company is split between Authored companions, who arrive with set identities and personal classes, and custom Operators you create yourself. Authored companions join naturally as the story unfolds; custom Operators are recruited directly by you. Each named companion carries a unique class tied to their character and a personal reason for joining Hawks.
Companion | Background |
|---|---|
A clone trooper, designation CT-3301, and Hawks' longtime ally from their Republic service, a consummate soldier with a fondness for games of chance | |
A Tognath Jedi Padawan who joins to honor the legacy of her late Jedi Master | |
A Mandalorian mercenary and one of the last of the ancient Clan Verminoth, along to settle a vendetta | |
An Umbaran sniper who defended his homeworld during the Republic invasion and resents the Republic that occupied it | |
A burly Felshi prizefighter known for his cybernetic arm, his namesake knockout punch, and a rhyming dialect | |
Born into House Mordant of Shu-Torun, she ruled her own mining citadel on Luunata as Ore-Baroness until the Infinite Coil seized it for the Separatists |
The squad also fields M-3VO, the droid who pilots the company's transport, the Caisson, and supports the crew between missions.
Alongside the named cast, you recruit and build your own mercenaries at the Den. Custom Operators can be assigned any of the eight standard Specializations, fully dressed and named to taste, including an astromech droid whose paint job you choose. They fight beside the story companions and are just as vulnerable to permadeath.
None of these people signed up out of patriotism. Each has a private motive, and those motives shape how they get along with one another and with Hawks. Fighting together builds bonds and tactical synergy, but conflicting worldviews can also create friction that the player has to manage through the crew relationship system.
Bit Reactor splits the roster in two. Authored Operators are the written characters: Trick, Jae Mordant, Tel-Rea Vokoss, Luco Bronc, Cly Kullervo, and Kabb Uppercut, led by Hawks. Custom Operators are the squadmates you create and customize yourself. Where you set the balance between the two is left to you, and it shapes which story moments you see.
Four more members of Zero Company never take the field. Bennic Halloren works Republic Intelligence, Runa Blask handles operations and finance, Neesh Renark runs the Armory and the black market, and M-3VO, also called Meevo, covers piloting and the Medbay. They belong to the company but cannot be deployed.
