The Caisson is the transport ship used by Zero Company in STAR WARS Zero Company. It carries the squad from their home base, the Den, out to the missions scattered across the galaxy map, and it is flown by the droid pilot M-3VO.
The Company's Ride
Where the Den is a bulk freighter permanently docked at the Ring of Kafrene, the Caisson is how the company actually reaches the fight. Every Tactical Mission and Operation the squad takes on begins with a trip aboard the ship, making it the link between base management and the battlefield. Because the company has no formal backing, the Caisson is the kind of working vessel a band of mercenaries relies on rather than a polished military transport.
Class and Role
Official Lucasfilm reference material is specific about what the Caisson is. It is a heavily modified Corellian light freighter, and it serves the company as both a transport and a combat dropship, which is a wider brief than simply carrying a squad from one place to another. The same material ties the ship to its pilot: M-3VO has been flying it since their former life with the Republic, where ship and droid operated together as a dedicated medical evacuation unit. That history explains both the pairing and the droid's continuing role in the Den's medbay.
Detail | Description |
|---|---|
Class | Heavily modified Corellian light freighter |
Role | Transport and combat dropship for Zero Company |
Pilot | |
Home port | Docked with the Den at the Ring of Kafrene |
Former service | Republic medical evacuation, crewed by the same droid |
Launch material also uses the Caisson name for the ship's hyperdrive when describing how the company travels between systems, so the phrase "the Caisson hyperdrive" turns up alongside the ship name itself. Both refer to the same vessel.
M-3VO
The Caisson is piloted by M-3VO, a droid who serves the company between missions. The pairing of a workaday transport and its droid pilot fits the game's grounded, lived-in take on the Clone Wars era.
In Star Wars Lore
The Caisson is specific to this game, and the official reference entry describing it was written for this game. Outside the Republic medical evacuation service it shared with M-3VO, it has no prior history in the wider setting, and anything the game does not show on screen is not confirmed as part of Zero Company's own telling.
Relation to the Den
The Caisson is not the base. The Den is a separate thing, a Gallofree Yards bulk freighter that once sailed as the Denab Drifter and is now permanently docked at the Ring of Kafrene, serving as Zero Company's base of operations. The Caisson is how a squad reaches a mission; the Den is where the company lives between them. See Operations and Tactical Missions for how a deployment is selected.
What Is Not Documented
The class and the role are documented, but a good deal is not. No crew complement and no armament are published, and beyond the class there is no published description of the ship's layout, interior or dimensions. Star Wars canon contains freighters and terms that sound adjacent, but none has been identified as this one, so nothing beyond what is above can be stated as belonging to this game.
