Rarify Specialty

The Rarify specialty converts Star Pieces into Rare Pokemetal, the most valuable crafting material in Pokemon Pokopia. Rare Pokemetal is required for crafting the Tidal Bell (summons Lugia), the Clear Bell (summons Ho-Oh), and for duplicating rare items with the 3D Printer.
The primary Pokemon with this specialty is Porygon-Z.

Collect Stardust from Dream Islands (found as ground pickups; usually takes about 2 trips to gather 99).
Craft a Star Piece at a Workbench: 99 Stardust = 1 Star Piece. The recipe is learned automatically the first time you interact with Stardust.
Give the Star Piece to Porygon-Z. It processes the Star Piece over time into Rare Pokemetal.
Collect the Rare Pokemetal once processing is complete.

Exclusive. Final evolution of Porygon, accessible after Environment Level 4 in Sparkling Skylands. |
To feed the Rarify pipeline, you need a steady supply of Star Pieces:
Stardust pickups on Dream Islands (99 Stardust = 1 Star Piece at a Workbench)
Occasional Large Lost Relic appraisal drops
Mystery Gift distributions and special event rewards
Visiting friends' islands and receiving Star Pieces as gifts
Rare Pokemetal is among the most valuable crafting materials in the game. Its primary uses:
Use | Details |
|---|---|
3D Printing | Duplicate rare items (fossils, large decorations) at any Pokemon Center 3D Printer. Each print consumes Rare Pokemetal. |
Crafted with Rare Pokemetal to summon Ho-Oh in a special encounter | |
Tidal Bell | Crafted with Rare Pokemetal to summon Lugia |
High-tier Decorations | Late-game furniture recipes and signature habitat pieces |
Befriend Porygon (Porygon habitat) early on
Evolve Porygon to Porygon2 by trading via Multiplayer with a friend while Porygon holds an Upgrade item
Evolve Porygon2 to Porygon-Z by trading with a Dubious Disc held
Porygon-Z moves into your town and begins accepting Star Pieces for conversion to Rare Pokemetal
This is one of the few trade-evolution chains in Pokopia that strictly requires multiplayer. Plan ahead by coordinating with a friend or a trading forum partner.
Bring a full stack of 99 Stardust back from Dream Islands to craft one Star Piece per trip. Plan Dream Island visits around stockpiling 99+ Stardust at a time.
Drop Star Pieces into Porygon-Z in batches. Each Star Piece takes real time to process; batching means more active conversions at once.
Rare Pokemetal also drops at a low rate from Pokemetal Fragment blocks broken with Rock Smash. Mining runs in Rocky Ridges are a good supplement.
Check the Pokemetal Fragment recipe before investing all your Star Pieces; some mid-game decorations only need regular Pokemetal, not Rare Pokemetal.
