Overview

Raikou is a Legendary Pokemon first encountered at Bleak Beach after completing the area's main story quest. It is one of the three Legendary Beasts alongside Entei and Suicune. Befriending Raikou is one of two requirements (alongside Volcanion) for reaching Hyper Trainer Rank and unlocking Sparkling Skylands.

First Encounter

Raikou appears at Bleak Beach after the player completes the Brighten Things Up Important Request, which involves restoring electricity to the area, waking up Mosslax with Peakychu's help, and clearing the darkness from the coastal town.

Recruiting Raikou

To permanently recruit Raikou to the player's island, a re-encounter on a Dream Island is required. Players need to use a Pikachu Doll to access the correct Dream Island type where Raikou can appear. This mechanic means the initial story encounter is separate from the permanent recruitment.

Connection to Ho-Oh

Encountering all three Legendary Beasts (Raikou, Entei, and Suicune) is a prerequisite for unlocking Ho-Oh. After encountering all three, players can craft the Clear Bell using 5 Rare Pokemetal and 5 Rainbow Feathers to summon Ho-Oh.
