Hot Springs

Improved: clarified Recuperate perk is separate from Hot Springs mechanic, expanded stamina cost reference, better cross-links to Maple Reed
The Hot Springs in Maple Reed are one of the primary stamina recovery methods in Starsand Island. For just 100 Gold per Hot Spring Ticket, you can sit in any of the hot spring spots and recover stamina at a rate of roughly 1 stamina per real second. In the early game when food is scarce and coins are tight, this is one of the best ways to keep working through the day without passing out.
The Hot Springs are located in Maple Reed, an area between Starsand Town's residential district and the coastal Crane Cape area. There are multiple hot spring spots scattered around Maple Reed, and any of them work the same way. There is no dedicated bus stop at Maple Reed, so you will need to walk or ride from the nearest fast travel point in Starsand Town. See the Maple Reed article for a full area guide.
Cost: 100 Gold per ticket.
Where to buy: Zerine's General Store or any vending machine on the island.
Discounts: Random discounts appear from time to time on ticket prices.
Free tickets: Some treasure chests around the island contain Hot Spring Tickets. One chest near the hot springs area (#33) contains a Satellite Dish Blueprint + 5 Hot Spring Tickets.
Keep tickets in your backpack — no need to equip them. When you interact with a hot spring, one ticket is consumed automatically.
Buy a Hot Spring Ticket from the General Store or a vending machine.
Travel to Maple Reed (between Starsand Town and Crane Cape).
Walk up to any hot spring spot and interact with it.
The ticket is consumed automatically and your character begins resting.
Wait as stamina regenerates at roughly 1 stamina per real second.
The Hot Springs restore approximately 1 stamina per real second, or about 2 to 3 stamina per in-game minute. Filling a completely empty stamina bar takes a while, so it is difficult to use the Hot Springs twice in a single day. Plan your visit for when you need a significant recharge rather than topping off a nearly full bar.
There are several ways to recover stamina in Starsand Island. Here is how they compare:
Hot Springs (100 Gold): Steady recovery at 1 stamina/second. Best in the early game when food ingredients are scarce. Requires traveling to Maple Reed.
Cooked food (ingredient cost): Instant recovery ranging from 45 to 105+ stamina per dish. Faster and more convenient once you have recipes and ingredients stockpiled. See the cooking guide for recipes.
Sitting with Recuperate (free): Craft a Stump Stool (3 Softwood) or any chair and sit on it to passively regenerate stamina. The Recuperate perk from the Workpedia app significantly speeds up this rate. Free but slow.
Sleeping (free): Going to bed fully restores stamina the next morning, but ends the current day.
The Recuperate perk is an Apprentice Crafter skill in the Workpedia app that increases stamina recovery while sitting on furniture. It is one of the best early-game purchases you can make with Starsand currency.
Recuperate works with chairs, stools, and benches — not with the Hot Springs directly. The Hot Springs are a separate stamina recovery mechanic with their own fixed rate of 1 stamina per second, unaffected by the Recuperate perk. The perk specifically enhances the passive recovery you get from sitting on placed furniture like a Stump Stool (3 Softwood).
To put recovery in context, here is what common activities cost:
Tilling soil: 15 stamina.
Fishing: 10 stamina per catch.
Refilling watering can: 10 stamina.
Catching insects: 4 stamina.
Mining/picking rocks: 2-3 stamina per hit.
Axe/machete hits: 3 stamina per hit.
Planting, watering, harvesting: Free (0 stamina).
Visiting the Hot Springs is one of several shared outing activities you can do with romanceable NPCs once you reach Heart Level 3 (370 AP). Other shared outing options include bike rides, backyard swings, and having drinks. NPCs will respond differently to the invitation based on their personality.
#32: At the back of the hot springs area. Follow the building around to the right.
#33: Near the hot springs area — contains a Satellite Dish Blueprint and 5 Hot Spring Tickets.
In the early game, 100 Gold for a full stamina refill is a great deal. Stock up on tickets whenever you visit the General Store.
Later in the game, cooking food becomes faster and more efficient than the Hot Springs. A Mushroom Soup (45 energy) or Chicken Stewed with Mushrooms (105 energy) is instant compared to sitting and waiting.
Combine Hot Springs visits with Maple Reed exploration to check the treasure chests in the area.
If you pass out from zero stamina, you wake up the next day with reduced stamina. Use the Hot Springs before that happens rather than pushing through to exhaustion.
Unlock the Recuperate perk early — free stamina recovery from sitting on any chair complements Hot Springs usage when you are at home and do not want to travel to Maple Reed.
The Nutrient Absorption perk (Workpedia) increases stamina gained from cooked food by up to 48% at max rank, making food even more efficient later on.
