Overview
While Phantom Blade Zero is primarily a combat-focused action game, it includes a stealth and assassination system that allows Soul to approach encounters silently and eliminate enemies before they can react. The system is not as deep as a dedicated stealth game but provides a meaningful alternative to direct confrontation in many areas.
Silent kills
When approaching an unaware enemy from behind or above, the player can execute a silent kill that dispatches the target instantly without alerting nearby enemies. Silent kills have unique animations depending on the weapon equipped and the enemy type. They are faster and more efficient than combat encounters, rewarding players who take the time to observe patrol routes and find approach angles.
Multi-finisher chains
After executing a silent kill, there is a brief window where the player can chain into additional assassination attempts on nearby enemies. If another unaware enemy is within range, the chain continues. This allows skilled players to clear small groups of enemies in rapid succession without entering open combat.

Limitations
Stealth cannot be used against bosses or mini-bosses. These encounters always begin with a triggered confrontation regardless of the player's approach. The stealth system is designed for clearing standard enemy groups and reducing the number of opponents before a larger fight, not for bypassing the game's major combat challenges.
