Paralives is developed in the Unity engine and is available on Steam for both Windows PC and macOS. The official system requirements were announced by Paralives Studio ahead of the Early Access launch on May 25, 2026. These specifications represent the requirements for the Early Access build and may change as the game is optimized and expanded throughout the approximately two-year Early Access window.
This article covers the Steam-confirmed Windows and macOS specs, language support, content rating, and platform availability. The launch is Steam-exclusive on PC and macOS only; there are no console, mobile, or other PC storefront plans confirmed.
Windows System Requirements
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
OS | Windows 10 | Windows 11 |
Processor | Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 @ 2.5 GHz | Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 @ 3.0 GHz |
Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD RX 6600 XT | NVIDIA RTX 2060 or AMD RX 7600 XT |
DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
Storage | 8 GB available space | 8 GB available space |
macOS System Requirements
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
OS | macOS Big Sur 11 or newer | macOS Big Sur 11 or newer |
Processor | Apple M2 | Apple M3 |
Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
Graphics | Apple M2 integrated GPU | Apple M3 integrated GPU |
Storage | 8 GB available space | 8 GB available space |
The macOS version requires Apple Silicon (M-series chips). Intel-based Macs are not supported. The minimum Apple M2 chip is the floor; older M1 systems are not on the supported list, and Apple's pre-M-series Intel Macs cannot run the build.
Key Hardware Considerations
RAM
The 12 GB minimum RAM is notable for a life-simulation game and reflects the system complexity of Paralives. The launch build needs to handle grid-free Build Mode, procedural animation, open-world town exploration with no loading screens, and multiple active Parafolk simultaneously. Players who plan to install community mods, build large houses, or run multiple Parafolk in the same lot should aim for the 16 GB recommended tier.
Graphics Card
The minimum GPU requirement of a GTX 1060 or RX 6600 XT places Paralives in the midrange tier. These cards are capable of handling the game's 3D rendering, lighting, and Procedural Animation systems at acceptable framerates. The recommended tier (RTX 2060 or RX 7600 XT) provides additional headroom for higher settings and smoother performance in densely furnished homes or busy town areas. Apple M-series Macs run on integrated graphics; the M2 minimum and M3 recommended floor reflect the GPU bandwidth available on those chips.
Storage
The 8 GB storage requirement is relatively modest. The figure is expected to grow during the Early Access period as content updates add furniture, venues, and outfits. Players who plan to install many Workshop mods should plan for additional space beyond the base requirement. SSDs are strongly recommended for faster loading when entering buildings and transitioning between areas.
Processor
A quad-core processor at 2.5 GHz is the minimum, with 3.0 GHz recommended. The simulation systems (autonomy, needs decay, pathfinding, procedural animation) benefit from higher clock speeds, particularly when running Live Mode at faster speeds (2x or 3x) to skim through routine activities.
Platform Availability
Paralives is available exclusively through Steam for both Windows and macOS at launch. There are no announced plans for consoles or other PC storefronts. The development team has focused on delivering a polished PC and Mac experience first, with potential platform expansion to be considered after the Early Access period. The studio has noted that Xbox remains under consideration for a possible future port; no other platform commitments have been made.
Steam Features
Paralives integrates with several Steam platform features:
Steam Workshop for browsing, downloading, and sharing community mods directly through the Steam client (see Modding and Steam Workshop)
Steam Cloud for save-file syncing across devices
Steam Achievements for completing in-game milestones
Controller and Steam Deck support has not been confirmed for launch. The primary input method is keyboard and mouse. All keys are rebindable for accessibility; see Controls.
Supported Languages
Paralives supports eight languages at the Early Access launch. All in-game text appears in the player's chosen language. Spoken dialogue uses the fictional Parli language, which is not specific to any real-world language; see Parli Language.
Language | Interface | Subtitles | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
English | Yes | Yes | Default |
French | Yes | Yes | |
Italian | Yes | Yes | |
German | Yes | Yes | |
Polish | Yes | Yes | |
Portuguese (Brazil) | Yes | Yes | |
Spanish (Latin America) | Yes | Yes | |
Simplified Chinese | Yes | Yes |
Additional languages may be added during the Early Access period based on community demand and translation availability, but no further commitments have been made by the development team. See Localization for translation design notes.
Content Rating
Paralives is targeting a Teen content rating. The game excludes mature themes such as drugs, murder, sexual violence, pornography, and gore. This rating aligns with the focus on accessible life simulation that appeals to a broad audience.
Performance Tips
Close other memory-intensive applications before launching, especially on the 12 GB minimum tier
Install on an SSD for faster lot-to-lot and venue-to-venue transitions
Keep graphics drivers up to date; Unity-engine titles often benefit from driver updates
Monitor performance when building very large or densely furnished homes; large furniture counts can be more demanding than typical play
Apple Silicon users running mods should expect heavier RAM usage when many texture or model assets are loaded simultaneously
Early Access Considerations
Since Paralives is in Early Access, performance may vary as the game is actively developed. The system requirements listed above represent the initial Early Access specifications and may be adjusted during the approximately two-year Early Access window. Players on hardware near the minimum tier should plan for future content additions potentially raising demands. The team has signaled that optimization is an ongoing priority throughout Early Access.
Out of Scope
Specific tested framerate targets at different settings, dedicated Steam Deck verification, and controller-input remaps have not been published in detail. Linux support has not been confirmed; players on Linux may be able to run the macOS or Windows build through compatibility layers, but that path is not officially supported.
