Burai is a Genma in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the elder of two sibling Genma who have made Kennin-ji Temple their lair, alongside his younger brother Ifuu.

Identity and Abilities

Capcom describes Burai as fighting with a combination of a naginata-like polearm and contraptions that unleash bursts of lightning. Like his younger brother, the promise of a good fight is what gets his blood pumping.

Combat Behavior

Retail-build coverage describes Burai's weapon as launching lightning from separate mechanical contraptions rather than the polearm's blade alone, giving him reach beyond a straightforward melee weapon. As with Ifuu, Musashi can face both siblings in a single encounter at Kennin-ji Temple.

Musashi's usual Combat System toolkit still applies against Burai. His lightning bursts fall into the category of attacks that can be answered with a parry, a deflect, or a Reflex Dodge depending on how they land, and a Break Issen remains available once Burai's Stamina Gauge is exhausted.

Voice and Reveal

Burai is voiced by Richard Reed. Capcom revealed the character in the sixth trailer on 26 August 2026, showing him and Ifuu together at Kennin-ji Temple, and gave the siblings a shared episode of the official Genma character video series on 31 August 2026.

Achievements

The game's achievement list includes separate wind-themed and lightning-themed entries with hidden descriptions, consistent with Capcom rewarding both an individual encounter with each brother and a combined fight against both siblings at once, though the precise requirements have not been published.
