Dokyo

Dokyo is one of the confirmed antagonists in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Capcom has described him as a sinister and enigmatic entity operating a secret underground laboratory beneath Edo-era Kyoto, where he creates new Genma and drives the spread of Malice across the city.

The Genma Experiments

The August 2025 Genma Experiments trailer positioned Dokyo's laboratory as one of the central through-lines of the story. The facility is where the creature variants Capcom has shown publicly originate, including the human-face tentacled Chijiko, the parasite-warped Kogashira, and other Genma variants shaped by his work.

Role in the Story

Dokyo's work ties the Malice corruption to a concrete human source. Rather than being a purely atmospheric threat, Malice in Kyoto is something Dokyo is actively producing, which gives Musashi a specific target to push toward as he works through the city. Public marketing has kept his backstory deliberately vague so far, positioning him as a mystery for the player to unravel during the campaign.
