Kennin-ji Temple is a real Kyoto landmark that Capcom reproduced inside Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and in the shipped game it is the lair of a pair of Genma siblings, Ifuu and Burai. Capcom's own character page names the temple as their home ground, and the studio's sixth trailer, released 26 August 2026, was built around Musashi Miyamoto's fight against the two of them there.

Both descriptions place the temple itself, rather than a generic dungeon or arena, as the confirmed setting for the encounter.
Trusted press coverage of the retail build separately confirms Kennin-ji as one of the real Kyoto sites Capcom rebuilt for the game, alongside Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Rokudo-chinnoji Temple and Yasui Konpiragu Shrine. That coverage describes the reconstruction going beyond the temple's outward appearance, extending down to the way its pillars are put together and the layout of its grounds.
The Genma Siblings
Ifuu and Burai are introduced together as a pair rather than as separate encounters, and Capcom's writing plays the two off each other.

Because Capcom frames them as a pair rather than as two independent bosses, the Kennin-ji encounter can put Musashi up against both of them at once, forcing him to answer Ifuu's ranged wind attacks and Burai's polearm and lightning devices in the same fight.
Location in the Story
Kennin-ji sits alongside Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Mount Oe, Yasui Konpiragu Shrine and the Underground Laboratory as one of the real-world sites the game's version of Eastern Kyoto is built around. As with the rest of the city, the temple grounds carry the marks of Malice and the presence of the Genma that have made it their own.

Capcom has not published further detail on the temple's internal layout, how it fits into the surrounding campaign structure, or whether Musashi returns there after the fight with the siblings.
