Overview
Neverness to Everness supports multiple input methods across all of its platforms: keyboard and mouse on PC and Mac, DualSense controller on PlayStation 5, and touch controls on iOS and Android. The game features full cross-platform play, meaning players on different devices can play together regardless of their input method. All control bindings can be customized through the Settings menu.
PC Keyboard and Mouse Controls
On PC, the default input method is keyboard and mouse. The keyboard handles movement, ability activation, menu navigation, and shortcut keys, while the mouse controls camera rotation, aiming, and targeting during combat. The default layout follows conventions common to third-person action RPGs, with WASD for directional movement, Spacebar for jumping, and Shift for sprinting. Regular attacks and chain combos are performed with left mouse button clicks, while the E key activates your character's Skill and Q triggers their Ultimate ability.
Keybind customization is available through the Settings menu (opened by pressing Escape). Players can rebind most actions to preferred keys. The settings menu is organized with a dedicated Controls section alongside Graphics and Audio tabs.

Gamepad and Controller Support
Neverness to Everness supports gamepad input on PC with automatic detection. When a compatible controller is connected, the game switches to controller prompts and layout automatically. This allows players to freely maneuver their hero using analog sticks rather than keyboard movement. On PlayStation 5, the DualSense controller is the native input device, and the game makes use of DualSense haptic feedback features.

Vehicle Controls
Vehicle controls operate on a separate scheme from on-foot movement. When driving one of the customizable vehicles around Hethereau, the control layout shifts to an automotive style. Feedback from the Co-Ex Test indicated that keyboard controls for driving felt overly sensitive compared to a gamepad, since analog sticks provide smoother and more gradual steering input. Players who plan to spend significant time with street racing or vehicle customization may prefer using a controller for vehicle sections while keeping keyboard and mouse for on-foot combat. Vehicles also feature a handbrake/drift function bound to Space on keyboard and X button on DualSense, which is essential for street racing events.
Mobile and Touch Controls
On iOS and Android, the game uses virtual on-screen controls. The touch interface adapts the full gameplay experience to mobile devices, with virtual joysticks for movement, tap targets for abilities, and gesture-based camera control. The mobile version maintains feature parity with PC and console through the game's cross-platform architecture. Players can also pair Bluetooth controllers to mobile devices for a more traditional control experience.

Combat Controls
Every character in Neverness to Everness has three core offensive actions: Normal Attack, Skill, and Ultimate. Normal Attacks are performed by clicking the left mouse button (or pressing R1 on DualSense), and successive clicks chain into combo strings that vary by character and weapon type. The Skill (E / R2) is a character-specific ability with a cooldown, while the Ultimate (Q / L2) is a powerful finisher that requires filling the character's energy gauge through combat.
Defensive options include Dodge and Parry, both mapped to the same input (right mouse button / L1). Tapping it triggers a dodge roll for repositioning, while timing it precisely as an enemy attack lands executes a parry. Successful parries align a shrinking inner circle with an outer ring and feed both the Esper Cycle meter and the enemy's stagger bar. Five parry variants exist: normal timing, skill-cancel parries, dodge-counter parries, swap-in parries, and ultimate-window parries.
Character swapping (1-4 keys / D-Pad on controller) is central to the combat system. Swapping a character in at the right moment triggers special swap-in attacks and can activate elemental reactions for extra damage. When an indicator appears on a character icon, switching to that character yields enhanced effects.
Camera Controls
Camera control uses the right analog stick on gamepad or mouse movement on PC. The game defaults to a third-person perspective, though a first-person mode is planned as an additional perspective option. Camera sensitivity can be adjusted in the Settings menu, and separate sensitivity sliders are available for on-foot and vehicle camera. During combat, the camera locks onto targeted enemies and adjusts dynamically to frame the action.
Accessibility
The Settings menu provides options for adjusting control sensitivity, inverting camera axes (both horizontal and vertical), and toggling aim assist. Separate sensitivity settings are available for on-foot gameplay and vehicle driving. These options help players of varying skill levels and physical abilities engage with the combat and exploration systems comfortably.
Tips for Control Customization
If vehicle steering feels too sensitive on keyboard, try switching to a controller for driving segments while keeping keyboard and mouse for combat.
Rebind Parry and Dodge to a comfortable key if you find the default right mouse button awkward during fast-paced encounters.
Lower camera sensitivity if you are overshooting targets during combat.
Mobile players can adjust the size and position of virtual buttons in the touch control settings for a layout that suits their grip.
Consider binding character swap keys to easily accessible positions, as frequent swapping is critical for elemental reactions and trio reactions.
