Monsters & Memories has rideable mounts and pack animals. Neither the official website nor the FAQs describe the system, so this page is built from the dated beta patch notes and the developer's public known-issues list (see Patch Notes); everything here describes the current beta build. Two animals are named on those surfaces: horses, whose models, accessories and textures were updated on February 25, 2026, and donkeys, which take a pack rigging. See Travel for the other ways of getting around.

Buying, riding and stabling
Mounts are bought from riding suppliers; the mount's level shows correctly in the Pet and Mount interface at purchase and after zoning since August 4, 2026. Riding is a skill with a minimum level shown on the riding trainer's interface (February 27, 2026). Only one mount can be active in a zone (August 20, 2026). Mounts are stabled and hitched, with a distance check on stabling since April 21, 2026, and you cannot stable or hitch a dead mount or unhitch another player's mount (February 27, 2026). Since September 10, 2026 a dismounted mount is no longer automatically re-mounted on zoning, and since September 19, 2026 a mount cannot be dismissed. Certain areas are no-mount volumes, and dismounting inside one was fixed on February 27, 2026. The Stable interface and the Pet Window were redesigned on February 25, 2026 to accommodate mounts and swarm pets.
Hunger and feed
Mounts eat. On February 25, 2026 they stopped reporting hunger until close to starving and began accepting food that would more than fill them. On April 7, 2026 pets and mounts began receiving 200% of a food item's value instead of 125%. Since Beta Patch 10 (September 10, 2026) mounts require feed as their diet, purchased from riding suppliers. A newly resurrected mount starts starving (April 21, 2026).

Speed and handling
Mount speed is tiered by swiftness. On March 20, 2026 speed at all swiftness tiers went up slightly and the donkey's swiftness value was lowered to compensate. Since April 7, 2026 you cannot strafe while riding, and turning speed is affected by the Grace attribute. Riders cannot cast while mounting (August 20, 2026), cannot remove the saddle while mounted (February 27, 2026), cannot swap rigging while mounted (August 4, 2026), and since September 19, 2026 cannot move saddlebags while mounted. Mounting clears any previous sit or stay command so the mount no longer runs back to that spot after dismounting (August 4, 2026). A mount will not react or enter combat when attacked (April 21, 2026), and since June 7, 2026 mounts no longer inherit abilities granted to every NPC of their race type.
Levelling
Mounts have levels. Since April 21, 2026 a mount that is behind its rider in level levels up while travelling. A mount of any level can be resurrected up to level 39 with the Deextinction ability shared by the Beastmaster and Druid (July 14, 2026).

Mount inventory and hauling
Mounts carry inventory, including saddlebags, and their weight is recalculated as items are added or removed (April 7, 2026). Searching for items to stack considers a mount's saddlebags (February 27, 2026). No-rent items expire while in a mount's inventory since September 10, 2026. The developer has twice raised ore weights specifically to push players toward pack animals: on April 21, 2026 ore weights went up to encourage donkeys and mounts for high-tier gathering, and on September 10, 2026 Iron Ore and Coal got heavier to encourage buying and equipping hauling mounts and to limit how easily low-level characters could carry high-tier ore. Backpacks and saddlebags are Leatherworking recipes since April 21, 2026; see Tradeskills.
Equipment
Riding Supplies vendors sell a basic pack rigging for attaching to donkeys (February 25, 2026). Mounts and mount equipment were updated on September 10, 2026, and horseshoes and heavy saddles were added on September 19, 2026. Saddles and saddlebags are referenced throughout the notes as equipment slots on the mount.
Mount corpses
A dead mount leaves a corpse. Since April 21, 2026 mount corpses load when a zone restarts and remain available to resurrect or to access their inventory for 7 days, and an expired mount corpse can be retrieved from a Stable Master for 1 gold. A persistent zone crash caused by rotting dead mounts was fixed on May 23, 2026. See Death Penalty for the player-side rules.
Known issues
The developer's public known-issues list carries three open mount entries as of September 21, 2026: Horses have lost inventory slots (reported September 11, 2026); Mounts disappearing and not following correctly when recovered (reported August 22, 2026); and Horse corpses do not remain in world if the player zones (reported February 28, 2026). A fourth, older entry notes that a character's nameplate does not adjust properly while mounted (reported March 11, 2026).
What is not published
As of September 21, 2026 no official page or patch note publishes mount prices, the swiftness tier values, the riding skill's level requirement, or a list of mount types beyond horses and donkeys. Any such figures should be treated as unverified until an official page or patch note states them.
