1 revisionsResearch level reflects how much information you have unlocked about an Animon in its in-game index entry. You raise it by scanning Animon during battle. Reaching the highest research level reveals stats, the Hidden Type, and the evolution chart, but it costs battle turns and usually requires a capture to fully finish the entry.
Scans | What Is Revealed |
|---|---|
1 to 2 scans | Usually enough to reveal an Animon's weaknesses, depending on its level. |
3 scans | Required to also show its stats, Hidden Type, and evolution chart (Research Level 2 and 3). |
Enter a battle against the Animon you want to research.
Scan it during the battle. Each scan costs one turn.
Scan up to three times total to reveal its stats, Hidden Type, and evolution chart.
Depending on the Animon's level, one or two scans is usually enough to reveal all its weaknesses. Three scans are required to show the rest of the entry.
For starter Animon, you need to find wild or opponent versions to fill in their index entry, since you cannot scan your own Animon. See How to Get All Starters for where the starters spawn.
An index entry is marked complete once it has a star on it. Scanning alone is not enough to earn the star, so it is recommended to also capture the Animon. If an entry is marked yellow but has no star, it most likely still needs to be captured or scanned more. See How to Catch Animon for capture methods.
The scan animation differs between a new Animon and one already indexed, though the difference is subtle. The scan circle is orange when scanning a new Animon, and it turns blue with stars once the Animon has already been scanned and captured.
