Gray Fog Test
June 27, 2026 at 08:52 AM
Updated to reflect the test is now live (launched June 26) and added the confirmed S1 season structure and cosmetic-only monetization
The Gray Fog Test (灰雾测试 Huīwù Cèshì) is the second closed beta of Lord of Mysteries. It began on June 26, 2026 with an end date to be announced separately, following the Crimson Test that ran in February 2026. SPARK NEXA confirmed the test on the official Chinese site and on the studio's official video channel on May 22, 2026.
Launch date: June 26, 2026; end date to be announced.
Platforms: PC, iOS, and Android. This is the first multi-platform test for the game; the Crimson Test was PC-only.
Test type: 限量计费删档测试 (limited-capacity, paid, wipe test). Player accounts and any spending are wiped at the end of the test and do not carry over to the live game.
Recruitment: questionnaire-based on the official site. Recruitment opened with the May 22 announcement; selection is not guaranteed.
Region: Mainland China remains the lead region for this test round.
First cross-platform test: the Gray Fog Test is the first time the game opens to PC, iOS, and Android players at the same time, and it is run as a limited, paid, wipe test.
Recruitment giveaway: the sign-up campaign advertises prizes for participants, including a PlayStation 5 console, exclusive merchandise, and shopping vouchers. These are recruitment prizes only and do not indicate a console version of the game; the confirmed platforms remain PC, iOS, and Android.
Season model and monetization: the Gray Fog Test is the build where the live-service economy became concrete. It runs on a standard season structure, with the first season (S1) built out as complete content, and a cosmetic-only payment model in which point cards buy decorative items and vehicles but never combat strength. See Monetization for the full breakdown. Because it is a paid wipe test, payment functions are enabled during the test, but all accounts and spending are wiped when it ends.
Three concrete shifts separate the Gray Fog Test from the Crimson Test:
Cross-platform scope. Mobile clients on iOS and Android are tested publicly for the first time alongside the PC build. The studio has not confirmed whether accounts or progress are shared across platforms (see Release and Platforms); the Gray Fog Test validates the mobile pipeline in production conditions.
Paid wipe model. The Crimson Test was free; the Gray Fog Test charges a participation fee for selected testers. The fee covers the test build only and does not unlock anything in the eventual live game. The wipe component is unchanged: nothing carries over.
Content expansion. The Gray Fog Test branding signals that Gray Fog and Sefirah Castle layer content is part of the test scope. See Gray Fog for the in-fiction background.
Sign-up runs on the official Mainland Chinese site. Applicants complete a questionnaire covering hardware, prior MMO experience, prior Beyonder lore familiarity, and gameplay preferences (the same format as the Crimson Test). WeChat verification is recommended over phone-number verification. International tooling can stretch eligibility for sign-up but is unsupported by the studio.
Each qualification is expected to be bound to a single device, matching the one-device-per-qualification rule from the Crimson Test.
Several details remain undocumented in official channels as of the announcement:
The full playable Pathways roster for this test. The Crimson Test made six of the 22 standard Pathways playable; whether the Gray Fog Test expands the roster has not been published, and the Hunter Pathway and Assassin Pathway remain absent from public communication.
The Sequence cap for this test. The Crimson Test capped progression at the lower three Sequences (9 to 7). Whether the Gray Fog Test raises the cap is widely speculated but unconfirmed.
The participation price tier. The studio has not published the per-qualification cost. PC, Android, and iOS device requirements have now been published for this test (see System Requirements); the participation fee remains the main undocumented item.
The Gray Fog Test sits between the Crimson Test (February 2026) and the Q4 2026 launch window. The studio's earlier post-Crimson-Test communication signposted additional CN closed-beta phases for spring and summer 2026; the Gray Fog Test is the publicly confirmed first of those phases. A separate global beta phase with English client support remains signposted for late summer or early autumn 2026, after the Gray Fog Test concludes.
See Dev Roadmap for the full chronological cadence and CN vs Global for the Mainland-first rollout pattern.
Crimson Test: first closed beta (February 2026). Release and Platforms: confirmed launch platforms and the cross-platform commitment. Dev Roadmap: full beta-to-launch timeline. System Requirements: the official multi-tier PC, Android, and iOS specifications for this test. Monetization: live-game monetization posture, distinct from the test fee.
