Comprehensive update with full March-June 2026 roadmap details including multiplayer, mod support, and dating system
Seed Sparkle Lab published the official Early Access roadmap for Starsand Island shortly after the February 11, 2026 launch. The roadmap outlines major content updates planned through June 2026, leading toward the full 1.0 release in summer 2026. Each month brings a significant new feature or system expansion.
The March update focuses on expanding items available for purchase with in-game currency at Ethereal Styles and other shops. Three themed item sets are planned:
Sun Wukong Outfit Set: A Monkey King-themed costume set inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring armor pieces and a staff accessory.
Firework-Themed Items: Decorative items including firework launchers, sparklers, and festival lanterns that can be placed on your property.
Rednote Collaboration Items: A cross-platform collaboration bringing exclusive cosmetic items themed around the Rednote social media platform.
These items will be purchasable with Coins rather than real money, keeping the game free of microtransactions during Early Access.
April brings two major social system improvements for the relationship system:
All romanceable NPCs and key story characters will receive additional voiced dialogue lines. Existing voice performances will also be polished based on player feedback. The current Early Access build features partial voice acting, with many interactions relying on text-only dialogue.
The NPC Dating System represents a major expansion to the existing romance guide mechanics. Currently, the romance progression caps at Level 5 affection and moving in together. The Dating System will add structured date activities where players can take their romantic partner to specific locations around the island for scripted date events with unique dialogue and rewards. This is separate from the existing daily gift and conversation system.
Mod support arrives in May with the foundation for community-created content. The update includes:
Basic Creator Tools: A set of modding tools allowing players to create custom items, furniture, clothing, and decorations.
Workshop Integration: The ability to share creations through the Steam Workshop, letting the community download and install mods directly.
Blueprint Sharing: Building on the existing Blueprint Library system, mods can include custom building templates and farm layouts.
The initial mod support will focus on cosmetic and decorative content. More advanced modding capabilities (custom NPCs, quests, gameplay mechanics) may follow in later updates depending on community demand.
Multiplayer gameplay arrives in June 2026 as the most anticipated feature on the roadmap. The update includes:
Cooperative Play: Play together with friends on the same island, sharing farming, crafting, and exploration activities.
Island Visiting: Visit other players' islands to see their farm layouts, homes, and decorations. This ties into the Blueprint Library sharing system.
Specific details about player limits, shared progression, and matchmaking have not been announced yet. The developers have confirmed that multiplayer will be cooperative rather than competitive.
The full 1.0 release is planned for summer 2026, expanding the platform lineup to include Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S alongside the existing PC version. The full release will include all Early Access content plus any remaining planned features.
Seed Sparkle Lab has been actively incorporating player feedback throughout the Early Access period, releasing nineteen patches in the first month alone. The team monitors Steam discussions, Reddit (r/Starsandisland), and their official Discord server for bug reports and feature requests. The roadmap may be adjusted based on community priorities.
