Major expansion: added pricing info, detailed patch cadence data, stretch goal implementation timeline, platform pricing, Early Access philosophy, and expanded monthly roadmap descriptions
Starsand Island launched into Early Access on February 11, 2026, on Steam (PC) and Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Game Preview). The game was also available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one. The development team at Seed Sparkle Lab has outlined a monthly content roadmap running through June 2026, with the full 1.0 release planned for Summer 2026.
The official roadmap, published via Steam News, lays out four months of planned content drops. Each month focuses on a different area of the game:
Month | Focus | Details |
|---|---|---|
March 2026 | Cosmetics and Collaboration Items | Sun Wukong (Great Sage Equal to Heaven) themed outfit set; firework-themed items added to Zerine's General Store; Rednote collaboration items added to Lex Woodworks |
April 2026 | Voice-Overs and Dating | Expanded NPC voice content with improvements to existing voice performances; further development and expansion of the dating system for romanceable characters |
May 2026 | Mod Support | Basic mod creator tools introduced; Steam Workshop integration for sharing player-created content; initial scope focused on cosmetic and decorative mods |
June 2026 | Multiplayer | Cooperative gameplay where friends can visit each other's islands; co-op farming, building, and activities; crossplay support |
The March update adds themed outfit sets and collaborative items. The Sun Wukong outfit is a Chinese mythology-inspired costume set. Firework items at Zerine's General Store add seasonal decoration options, and the Rednote collaboration brings branded items to Lex Woodworks. These are cosmetic additions that do not change core gameplay.
April focuses on deepening NPC interactions. More characters will receive voice-over lines, and existing performances are being revised based on community feedback. The dating system is getting expanded with new events, dialogue options, and progression mechanics for the 15 romanceable characters.
Mod tools arrive in May, starting with a basic creator toolkit. Steam Workshop integration lets players share custom content with the community. The initial scope covers cosmetic and decorative mods (custom furniture, outfits, and visual tweaks). Deeper gameplay modding may follow in later updates depending on community interest and technical feasibility.
Multiplayer is the most anticipated feature on the roadmap. The June update adds cooperative play where friends can visit each other's islands, help with farming and building tasks, and participate in activities together. Crossplay between PC and Xbox is planned. The Kickstarter campaign originally highlighted multiplayer as a core feature, and the development team has confirmed it remains a top priority for the 1.0 release.
The game is currently available on the following platforms in Early Access:
Platform | Status | Available Since |
|---|---|---|
Steam (PC) | Early Access | February 11, 2026 |
Xbox Series X|S | Xbox Game Preview | February 11, 2026 |

Additional platforms planned for the full 1.0 release in Summer 2026:

Nintendo Switch 2 | Summer 2026 (with 1.0 release) |
The full release price is expected to be approximately $39.99 for the Standard edition and $59.99 for the Deluxe edition. The Early Access price is lower than the planned 1.0 price.
The Kickstarter campaign raised $311,566 from 5,306 backers and unlocked nine stretch goals. The development team has confirmed that all stretch goals will be implemented. Some shipped with the Early Access launch, while others are scheduled for later updates:

Features marked as "planned for post-launch update" may arrive during the Early Access period or as free content updates after the 1.0 release. The team has not committed to specific dates for individual stretch goals beyond what the monthly roadmap covers.
The development team maintained an aggressive patching schedule after launch. In the first two weeks alone (February 11 to 28, 2026), over 14 patches were released addressing bugs, performance issues, and quality-of-life improvements. This rapid response demonstrated the team's commitment to acting on player-reported issues from Steam reviews, the official Discord server, and Reddit.
The early launch period included some turbulence: the game experienced review bombing on Steam over concerns about suspected botted reviews. The developers released a public statement addressing the situation and continued their patch cadence without interruption.
Seed Sparkle Lab has stated that the Early Access period is being used to gather community feedback, identify bugs, and refine core systems before the full release. Creative Director Richardo Wang emphasized that community feedback directly shapes the roadmap and that the published schedule represents only the first confirmed milestones. Additional content beyond the monthly roadmap may be announced as development progresses.
The team monitors feedback through Steam reviews, the official Discord, Reddit, and direct community surveys. Players who purchased the game during Early Access will receive all future content updates (including stretch goal features, multiplayer, and mod support) at no additional cost.
