Wang Zhaojun is a mage-class hero in Honor of Kings: World. One of the Four Beauties of ancient China, Wang Zhaojun commands ice and frost magic that freezes enemies in place, slows their movements, and shatters frozen targets for massive burst damage. Her Flow style focuses on area denial and crowd control, restricting enemy movement across large zones while setting up devastating shatter combos.
Wang Zhaojun is the roster's premier crowd control mage. While other mages like Zhou Yu deal higher sustained damage, Wang Zhaojun's ability to completely immobilize enemies through freezing gives her unique tactical value. In boss encounters, freezing a target creates guaranteed damage windows for the entire team.
Wang Zhaojun's combat revolves around the freeze-and-shatter mechanic. Her abilities apply stacking cold to enemies. When cold stacks reach their maximum, the target freezes solid and becomes completely unable to act. Frozen enemies take greatly increased damage from the next hit, then shatter. This two-step process rewards patience and timing: build cold stacks with sustained abilities, then deliver a single devastating shatter blow.
Her area denial is equally important. Frozen Heart (MOBA Passive) creates persistent ice zones that enemies must navigate around, and Blizzard creates localized storms of continuous damage and slow. In dungeons and boss arenas, these zones control where enemies can safely move, funneling them into predictable paths.
Shattered Ice (MOBA Skill 1): in the Honor of Kings MOBA, Wang Zhaojun controls shattered ice crystals to bloom in a target area, dealing magic damage and applying a Chill effect that slows enemies, while granting vision of the area. Blizzard: summons a localized snowstorm that continuously damages and slows enemies in an area. Enemies that remain in the storm accumulate cold stacks rapidly, making it effective for setting up freezes on groups.
Frozen Heart (MOBA Passive): in the MOBA, upon leaving combat, Wang Zhaojun gains an Ice Shield that absorbs damage and chills attackers. When the shield breaks, it deals magic damage to nearby enemies. Her third basic attack is enhanced into icicles with bonus damage. The HoKW adaptation may implement this differently.
Winter is Here (MOBA Ultimate): in the MOBA, Wang Zhaojun summons a persistent blizzard that strikes enemies within the area for 5 seconds, dealing magic damage per hit and applying a Chill effect. The HoKW version may have significantly different mechanics suited to the action RPG format.
Wang Zhaojun (circa 52 BCE to 18 CE) was a Han dynasty court lady counted among the Four Beauties of ancient China. Her story is one of sacrifice and sorrow. When the Han court was pressured to send a bride to the Xiongnu chieftain Huhanye as part of a peace agreement, Wang Zhaojun volunteered. She left the warmth of the Han capital and traveled to the cold northern steppes, where she lived among the Xiongnu for the rest of her life.
Her association with cold, remote northern lands is the thematic basis for her ice powers in the Honor of Kings franchise. The melancholy of her story is reflected in the visual design of her abilities, which combine beauty with lethal cold. Snowflakes drift through her attack animations, and her ultimate conjures a frozen landscape reminiscent of the steppes she once called home.
In Primaera, Wang Zhaojun's legacy carries forward as a Flow style that embodies both the grace and the sorrow of her historical counterpart. The Flowborn who channels her style inherits not just her ice magic but the quiet strength of a woman who chose sacrifice for the sake of peace.
Wang Zhaojun excels in boss encounters where freeze windows translate directly into team DPS. The standard combo is to build cold stacks with Shattered Ice (MOBA Skill 1) and Blizzard, then freeze the boss with either accumulated stacks or Winter is Here. During the freeze, the player swaps to a high-damage melee style to deliver the shatter blow. In eight-player raids, coordinating Wang Zhaojun's freeze with the team's burst abilities maximizes the damage window.
Use Winter is Here during Posture Break stagger windows for guaranteed freezes on bosses that are otherwise difficult to stack cold on.
Place Frozen Heart (MOBA Passive) at choke points in dungeons to create kill zones. Enemies walking through the ice field freeze before reaching your team.
The shatter bonus from frozen enemies applies to the first hit only. Make sure that first hit is your strongest ability, not a basic attack.
Pair Wang Zhaojun with a burst melee style like Li Bai or Lu Bu in the dual-class system. Freeze with Wang Zhaojun, swap, and shatter with a heavy hit.
In PvP, Frozen Heart (MOBA Passive) forces opponents to choose between standing in the ice and taking a detour. Use this to control their movement.
