Jixia Academy is the central hub of learning and power in Primaera, the world of Honor of Kings: World. The Academy is divided into three specialist colleges, each dedicated to a different discipline: the College of Martial Arts, the College of Arcane Arts (Sorcery), and the College of Mechanics. Together, these three institutions represent the full spectrum of human capability in Primaera, training students from across the sea who arrive seeking knowledge and power. The Flowborn protagonist begins their journey at the Academy after returning from studying abroad.
Jixia Academy was founded by the Three Sages, legendary figures who established the institution as a sanctuary of knowledge. Each Sage's legacy corresponds to one of the three colleges. The Sages laid the philosophical and practical foundations that still guide the Academy's curriculum. Their teachings form the basis of how Flow is understood and utilized across all three disciplines, though each college interprets and applies Flow in fundamentally different ways.
The College of Martial Arts focuses on combat training and physical prowess. Students in this college learn to channel the Flow through their bodies, enhancing their strength, speed, and endurance beyond normal human limits. The curriculum covers weapon mastery, hand-to-hand combat, body conditioning, and battlefield tactics.
Martial Arts students train to become warriors capable of facing the dangerous creatures and hostile forces that threaten Primaera. The college emphasizes direct confrontation and personal combat skill. Many of the game's Fighter and Confrontation-type Refinements draw from the traditions taught here. Training grounds within the college include sparring arenas, weapon halls, and outdoor obstacle courses built into the mountainside.
Notable figures associated with this college include warriors like Lu Bu and Kai, whose combat styles exemplify the college's philosophy of physical excellence.
The College of Arcane Arts, also referred to as the College of Sorcery, is dedicated to Flow manipulation and magical abilities. Where the Martial Arts college channels Flow through the body, the Arcane Arts college teaches students to project Flow outward, shaping it into elemental attacks, protective barriers, illusions, and other supernatural effects.
Students here study the theoretical underpinnings of Flow alongside its practical applications. The curriculum includes elemental theory (fire, water, earth, wind, and their interactions), enchantment, ward-crafting, and the study of ancient texts describing how the first settlers of Primaera used Flow to survive. The College of Arcane Arts produces many of the Support-type characters in the game, as well as ranged magical combatants.
The college's facilities include a great library of Flow theory, meditation chambers designed to amplify Flow sensitivity, and a practice tower where students can safely experiment with powerful abilities. Zhuangzi's dream protections are woven into the Academy's arcane defenses, a direct contribution from this college's expertise.
The College of Mechanics focuses on technology, machinery, and mechanical constructs. This college approaches Flow not as a mystical force but as an energy source that can be harnessed, stored, and channeled through mechanical devices. Students learn engineering, metallurgy, construction, and the design of Flow-powered machines.
The Mechanics college is responsible for much of the infrastructure that keeps Jixia Academy and the surrounding settlements functioning. Flow-powered mechanisms handle everything from irrigation and transportation to defensive fortifications. Mozi's mechanical defenses, which protect the Academy from external threats, are the college's most famous achievement. These mechanisms range from automated turrets and gates to more complex constructs that patrol the Academy grounds.
The college's workshops are filled with gears, blueprints, and prototypes. Students spend as much time building and testing machines as they do in theoretical study. The College of Mechanics represents the game's integration of technology into its mythological setting, showing that Flow can be approached through engineering as readily as through martial or arcane disciplines.
Jixia Academy is protected by two overlapping defensive systems, each created by one of the Academy's legendary guardians:
Mozi's Mechanisms: A network of mechanical defenses including automated sentries, reinforced gates, and Flow-powered traps. These systems, designed and built by Mozi, provide the Academy's physical security against attacks and incursions.
Zhuangzi's Dream: A mystical protection layered over the Academy by Zhuangzi. This defense creates a dreamlike barrier that disorients and repels hostile forces attempting to breach the Academy through supernatural means. It also masks the Academy's exact location from divination and scrying attempts.
The combination of mechanical and mystical defenses reflects the Academy's core philosophy that all three disciplines, martial, arcane, and mechanical, are stronger when working together.
At the summit of Jixia Academy sits the Sky-reaching Tower, and atop this tower rests the Cloud Silkworm, one of the great wonders of Primaera. The Cloud Silkworm is a mysterious entity or artifact that produces silk-like threads of condensed Flow. These threads drift across the Academy and surrounding landscape, and studying them is a key part of the Arcane Arts curriculum. The Cloud Silkworm is visible from across the Academy grounds, making the Sky-reaching Tower a prominent landmark.
The Academy's guiding motto is: "Tell yourself the truth." This phrase reflects the institution's pluralistic approach to knowledge. Rather than dictating a single path to understanding, the Academy encourages students to find their own truths through whichever discipline resonates with them, whether that is the physical mastery of Martial Arts, the Flow manipulation of Arcane Arts, or the engineering ingenuity of Mechanics.
The Flowborn protagonist arrives at Jixia Academy near the beginning of the game's main story, having returned from a period of study abroad. The Academy serves as both the player's home base in the early game and a recurring location throughout the narrative. Students and faculty provide quests, lore, and services. As the story progresses, the Academy's safety comes under threat from the game's antagonistic forces, and the Flowborn must work with all three colleges to defend it.
