Initial article creation with confirmed HoK:W abilities
Jiang Ziya is a Mage hero in Honor of Kings: World. He is described as the most unique mage in the roster, combining strong burst damage output with support-oriented debuffs that weaken enemies for the entire team. His kit revolves around area denial, defense reduction, and a devastating three-wave ultimate.
Jiang Ziya fills a hybrid role between damage dealer and support debuffer. His abilities reduce enemy defenses while dealing significant magic damage, making him especially valuable in team play where his debuffs amplify the damage output of all teammates. He excels at controlling space and softening targets for burst-oriented allies like Li Bai or Zhou Yu.
Divine Seal (Skill 1): Jiang Ziya places a seal on a targeted area that applies damage over time to enemies within. Affected enemies are slowed by up to 70% and have their physical and magical defense reduced by up to 20% for the duration. This ability is central to his support role, making it a priority to place before the team commits to a burst window.
Divine Punishment (Skill 2): Marks an area on the ground that activates twice, dealing magic damage to all enemies caught within. On the third activation, enemies are launched into the air, setting up aerial combos for teammates using Flow Styles with strong aerial attacks.
Universal Law (Ultimate): Jiang Ziya channels divine energy and releases three shockwaves in a straight line. The first two waves deal moderate damage, but the third and final wave delivers massive burst damage. Positioning is critical since all three waves must connect to maximize output. The total damage of a full-hit Universal Law is among the highest single-ability damage numbers in the game.
In co-op and raid content, Jiang Ziya serves as a force multiplier. His Divine Seal debuff reduces enemy defenses for the entire team, not just himself. Placing Divine Seal on a boss before the team enters a Posture Break stagger window can significantly increase total team damage during that window. His crowd control from Divine Punishment also provides setup for teammates.
Jiang Ziya is based on the legendary figure Jiang Shang (also known as Jiang Taigong), a military strategist and advisor who helped King Wen and King Wu of Zhou overthrow the Shang Dynasty around 1046 BCE. In Chinese mythology, he is revered as a master strategist and sage who could command divine forces. His role in the Investiture of the Gods (Fengshen Yanyi) portrays him as a figure who wields divine authority and assigns positions to gods, reflecting his ultimate ability "Universal Law" which channels divine judgment.
Always lead with Divine Seal before major damage phases. The 20% defense reduction applies to the entire team's damage, not just yours.
Divine Punishment's third-hit launch can be used to interrupt dangerous boss attacks if timed correctly.
Universal Law deals the most damage when all three waves connect. Position yourself so the target cannot sidestep the line. Use it during stagger windows when bosses are immobile.
Pair Jiang Ziya with Wang Zhaojun's freezing abilities to lock enemies in place for a guaranteed full Universal Law hit.
