Townsfolk and NPCs

Added the post-victory street life from the combat log and the restored-street demo capture
The cast of Graveyard Keeper 2 has not been rostered publicly. No named NPC has been announced. What the studio has confirmed is the shape of the population, which groups exist and why, and that is what this page records.
Group | Official description |
|---|---|
Returning characters | Several iconic characters from the original game return, and the studio says the trailer already hints at which |
New characters | Most of the cast in the sequel appears for the first time |
Characters who did not survive | The studio says players will meet some old friends and learn what happened to others |
The skull companion | Confirmed, and confirmed not to be the first game's skull. See The Skull Companion |
Townsfolk | The residents of The Town, whose homes and businesses the player restores |
Zombified townsfolk | Most of The Town was overrun by its own residents turned undead |
Traders | Bring goods from foreign lands into the Town |
Refugees | Search for new homes in a zombie infested city |
On the refugees the studio adds a line that captures the game's register exactly: apparently, even a zombie infested Town can look attractive when the rent is low enough.
The September 2026 combat log adds where the townsfolk come back into view: town battles are fought on the streets, and after a victory those same streets become populated by the townsfolk and market stalls. A demo store screenshot shows the result on one restored street, with a stall selling bread under an awning, residents walking between the houses and a covered wagon by the gate; none of the figures is named.
One of the clearest quality of life changes in the sequel concerns where quest characters are. In the original, important quest characters visited only once a week from a Town the player could never enter. Now that The Town is part of the game, the studio says there is nowhere mysterious for them to arrive from, so they generally stay at their regular locations. The weekly planning pressure has not been removed entirely: certain mechanics connected to those characters remain available only on their designated days.
Behaviour | Original framing | Sequel |
|---|---|---|
Where quest characters live | Arrived from the Town on a weekly visit | Remain at their regular locations |
Weekly planning | Required to catch a visitor | Still required, but for specific day-gated mechanics rather than for access to the person |
Quest progression is tied to helping residents with their problems, and completing those quests unlocks the next building, service or tier of access in a district. The launch announcement frames it as completing quests throughout the city while undead workers handle the heavy lifting behind the scenes. The mechanics of that are on Town Restoration.
