Revision 1

The Vanished Warder is Sly's Old Camp side quest during Casting Shadows. He wants the Hero to locate Nek, a missing warder, and bring back evidence of what happened.

Find Nek

Ask Sly about work after Casting Shadows begins. Fletcher in the Arena district provides an optional lead, but the Hero can go directly to the cave southwest of the Old Camp south gate. Molerats occupy the approach.

Search Nek's corpse inside the cave and take the Amulet of the Dead Guard. The amulet can be collected before meeting Sly, so an earlier cave visit does not prevent completion. The same area contains Hellcaps needed for Snaf's Recipe.

Return the evidence

Show the amulet to Sly and hand it over to finish the quest. This grants 250 XP and his recommendation for Admission to the Old Camp. The amulet is the proof required for the report, so finding the body alone does not complete the job.

Keeping the amulet

The Hero can delay handing the amulet over and keep using it. Sly continues asking for it and the quest remains open. This does not count as completing the recommendation task. Return it before committing to a faction or advancing past a chapter cutoff if the quest reward is wanted. Missables and Points of No Return explains why a separate save before those transitions is useful.
