Lee is the leader of the Mercenaries, the armed wing of the New Camp. He is a founding member of the camp alongside Saturas and Lares, having broken from Gomez's rule to start a rival settlement.
Where Saturas runs the Water Mages and Lares runs the Rogues, Lee runs the fighters. The Mercenaries under his command are the ones who protect the camp's ore, its mages, and the mage research effort that is the whole reason the New Camp exists.

Alkimia Interactive has publicly announced an updated visual design for Lee for the remake, described by the studio as a heavier-built man in his early- to mid-forties, with greying hair reflecting the long years he has spent inside the Barrier. Alongside Gorn's redesign, Lee's makeover was one of the more visible changes the studio made in response to community feedback.
Lee's formal relationship with the Water Circle is a pact: the Mercenaries defend the mages and their ore supply, and the mages in return pursue the research that might eventually break the Barrier. If that research fails, Lee's entire project fails with it. That dependence is why Lee is willing to share top-level camp authority with Saturas in the first place, the Mercenaries cannot break the Barrier on their own, and the Water Mages cannot defend themselves from a serious Old Camp push.
A non-mage Hero who joins the New Camp will work directly under Lee through the Mercenary ranks. Even Heroes who eventually go the mage route through Saturas still need Lee's sign-off on the combat-side tasks the campaign assigns them. The Mercenaries are the path a Hero takes to prove himself on Lee's side of the camp; the Water Circle is the parallel mage path that Saturas controls.
