The Soldier is one of the five Beginner classes in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, and the only one counted as both Infantry and Armored. Its published description is a spear user clad in shield and mail who excels in Defense, which is the shape of the class in one line: it holds ground rather than covering it.

Reports of the weapon menu describe the class equipping swords, spears and axes, which lines up with the proficiency list once the naming difference is set aside: exam screens have been read as saying Spear where class summaries say Lance, and both refer to the same weapon type.
Role in Battle
The Armor proficiency is what separates the Soldier from the rest of the Beginner tier. It is the entry point for the heavy-armor line, so a unit that starts here is already training the requirement that the Armored Knight in the Specialty tier and the Dreadnought in the Advanced tier both check at a certification exam. The Lance proficiency points the same unit toward the mounted and spear classes instead, which gives the class two usable directions out of it.
Theodora is the clearest example of a unit placed here. During the Class Upgrade and License tutorial in Temple Row, in Chapter 4 of her path, the released game moves her into the Soldier class automatically, out of the Noble class she starts in.
The trade is the usual one for a defensive class. High Defense and a shield make the Soldier hard to move, while as of September 2026 its movement figure has not been recorded on this wiki and the class carries none of the Dexterity or Speed emphasis the Hunter does.
Class Stats
As of September 2026, no base stats, growth rates or stat modifiers for the Soldier have been recorded on this wiki, and no movement value has been documented either. Stat tables circulating for a class of this name belong to other titles and do not describe this one.

A unit that starts here is already training the Armor proficiency the Dreadnought checks at its exam, and exams are covered on Certification Exams. Going the other way, on Dexterity and Speed rather than Defense, is the Hunter.
